I worked on brown field & green field onshore projects typically involving transformers, HV/LV switchgear, emergency generators, HV/LV motors, UPS, Variable speed drives (VSDs), substations, HV/LV cabling, lighting & grounding etc. I designed power system based on the applicable standards such as IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, Shell DEP, QP standards etc. My role in different stages of the projects is given below.
 Project development: Participated in the project scope development (PIN), site surveys, meetings, basis of design (BOD), pre-FEED, scope of work and inter-discipline check (IDC).
 Internal FEED: Worked on FEED for the time sensitive projects wherein estimated project load requirements, performed adequate checks, selected & sized electrical equipment, developed single line diagrams, protection diagrams for HV/LV switchgear & Emergency generators. Reviewed & finalized engineering drawings, specifications, data sheets, conducted load flow, short circuit analysis, motor start up studies, arc flash studies using ETAP or CYME software. SOW, produced scope of work for EPC.
 External FEED: Worked on pre-FEED with projects and asset holder to develop design alternatives that are consistent with plant’s 15 years plan, single line diagram, produced scope of work, list of deliverables, TCR, list of standards to be used. Conducted interdisciplinary checks, reviewed/approved design documents, attended SAFOP/HAZOP.
 Detailed design: Worked with project engineer, attended mid tender meetings, site visit, bid evaluation, reviewed/approved the electrical design, calculations, equipment specifications, construction drawings, installation procedures consistent with the facility, attended SAFOP/HAZOP.
 Procurement: Worked with projects to specify electrical equipment that are consistent with area classification requirements, other plant equipment and company’s requirements. Reviewed & provided feedback on specifications, data sheets and vendor drawings. Attended workshop for detailed design review and FAT procedure at vendor’s facility. Attended all FAT activities.
 Power system studies: Defined scope for power system studies, reviewed and commented on electrical deliverables and approved the issued-for-construction.
 Construction & commissioning: Advised on QA/QC issues and provided technical support to address design related issues and performed a pre-start up inspection. Participated in planning and execution of commissioning activities. Worked with project engineers to develop detailed risk assessment & mitigation procedure for work. Reviewed all test results.
 Standards: Reviewed and provided feedback for improvement of QP standards and specifications.
 Supervision: Supervised designers and engineers. Imparted structured training to new engineers, explained basic concepts, assisted them to make presentation to managers, shared experience and knowledge.
 Reviewed and provided feedback for new and/or updated drawings. Worked with operations and reliability engineers to develop fast track solutions for equipment failures and troubleshooting.
 Close-out: Contributed in change management and documented lessons learnt.

IOC is a largest Oil Company in India having a turnover of US$ 9 billion and employing more than 35000 people. It owns and operates six major refineries & vast pipeline network throughout the country and markets & stores all petroleum products throughout India.

Responsible for developing a Refinery residue based 300 MW power plant. My responsibilities included preparing scope of work for feasibility studies, technical and financial evaluation of the feasibility report, coordination with government agencies for clearances, preparing SOW for FEED, selection of joint venture partner, financial closure etc
