Present Job : I am working as a Copy Editor with Gulf News. Here I handle copies and pages across the local, international, regional, business and sport beats. I have strong editing skills with a ability for quick and precise editing and have a proven ability to handle high volume and high pressure while sticking to strict deadlines.
At Gulf News we edit for web and print and I am aware of SEOs and other parameters in the digital space.
I have knowledge of pagemaking and have worked on Quark Xpress, InDesign, inCopy and Atex Publishing.
I was with Gulf News for four years five months. (October 2014-May 2019).
Before this I worked as the Chief Sub-Editor at XPRESS, a sister publication of Gulf News. This weekly tabloid focussed on hyper local news with an emphasis on news, entertainment, technology and sports.
Here I was in charge of content editing and rewriting copy, making pages, monitoring readers comments on the web, working on stories for the web etc.
My chief role was ensuring deadlines are met and error free copy was generated with great headlines and intros.
I began working at Xpress in July 2007 and was promoted from Sub-editor to the Chief Sub in 2009.
I love to write and have written many articles for Gulf News and Xpress on the tech industry in the local space. I have even travelled abroad on technology based assignments.
I also write travel related articles and stories on human interest and humour and have written for the Off the Cuff column at Gulf News from time to time.
I began working at Gulf News from July 2003 in the Supplements section. I handled country reports, industry reports and contract publishing jobs here.
