- In this role I am responsible for the overall and direct supervision of a “Central Materials Management Warehouse” that feeds different satellite field warehouses. The company is having around 52, 000 SKUs and 700, 000 SFT storage areas (Covered and Fenced Yards) with an inventory value of more than USD 120 Million.
- My primary role is to lead and supervise a team of professionals (both staff & 3rd party) engage in the activities of Materials Ordering, Expediting, Receipts, Technical Inspection, Valuation, Storage, assigning Locations in system, ensuring preservation, onward timely Issuances, Returns, Cyclic Counts, Transfers, Contractors materials Reconciliation and Scrap Disposal management.
- Other tasks include; influencing contractual staff to improve yards and Site Materials Management systems such as warehousing, preservation, issue and storage including segregation of STK & NS and inventory security related issues. Proposes means for improvement and enhancement of Materials Management Processes and leads the development of new processes as required.
- In this role I was looking after the Materials Warehouse core operations starting from Materials Ordering to Receipts, Inspections, Rejections, Binning and Storage, Lay-down Yards, Issuances, Returns, Physical Counts/Annual Stock taking audits and Scrap disposal management. The company SKU count was 27000 with an inventory value of USD 40 Million.
- Conducting NFPA Chemicals Compatibility studies in coordination with HSE and updating MSDS dossiers accordingly. Attending critical receipts such as Catalyst (-15ċ), Project Piping/Tubing, Salt, Liquid Nitrogen shipments to ensure live testing and appropriate delivery assurance.
- Providing dedicated support in materials expediting during the plant annual shutdowns and turnarounds. Attending Turnaround coordination Meetings at plant and at different fabrication shops for assessment of materials delivery priorities. Daily visits of laydown yards for occupancy and identifying any concern due to space availability.
- In this role I was responsible to manage the clients’ inventory of automotive child parts, prod’s raw materials and consumable chemicals for ensuring smooth production of 4 wheeler Cars at Honda Motor mfg plant. Preparing long terms 4 parties agreement between clients, headquarter, foreign suppliers and Honda Motors on materials supplies.
- Performing materials deliveries expediting with foreign suppliers and keeping clients updated from ETD to ETA. Handling matters of claim management for short & rejected parts, preparing quarterly inventory forecasting reports and planning shipments accordingly.
- From this position my career began where my job was initially to assist Prod shift Incharges in counting, verifying, and logging the per day finished product in Oracle inventory system. Later on, I was assigned as Leadman where my job was to supervise Prod operators engaged in packaging, stacking and shifting of palletized products.
- The job’s scope included looking after a product warehouse of 52, 000 SFT having state of the art instrumentations, PLCs, Battery Operated Forklifts, Palletizers, Wrapping machines, Product Silos (6ea of 100MT) and highly skilled manpower (30 bodies) in 12hrs shift. Was responsible for PMs, CMs and to prevent machine downtimes to achieve per day targeted production.
- Subsequently I moved to Product Logistics section where my job was to make daily trucking plans both containerized, and bulk type (bowsers) in coordination with Sales & Marketing team. Was doing daily coordination with transporters on freight, fuels adjustment and other miscellaneous negotiations on contracts obligation. Closing out Logistics related NCRs on short, excess deliveries with taking up appropriate actions. Supervising Weigh Bridge (of 100MT) operations, GSM tracking systems and other core functions came under Logistics SOW.
