Coordinator of the TESOL Arabia - Education Technology Special Interest Group - TAEDTECH Sig. This is principally an online community that has been set up to promote good practice in the use of technology in EFL instruction in the Arab Gulf region.
Currently spearheading two projects
(a) implementation of a digital badge ecosystem (microcredentialing)
Directing a team of 5 volunteers in the creation of digital badges that are grounded in ISTE standards when possible. Other specific responsibilities assumed include graphic design of digital badges, marketing the relevance of the badge concept to TESOL Arabia members, researching current best practices in the use of open digital badges, training others in all aspects of the badge ecosystem design
(b) implementation of an online PD tutorials program
Overseeing a team of 7 volunteers in the creation of online, self directed tutorials with the purpose of promoting PD for EFL instructors in all corners of the Arab World.
Professional staff position - Principally provide consultation to faculty on matters of instructional design (IT) and educational technology (ET) integration; conduct University wide faculty surveys to define professional development (PD) needs, design and deliver PD using various delivery strategies to meet those needs (i.e. traditional f2f workshops, one to one consultations, "JIT" online learning resources and online tutorials); teach undergraduate courses (Mathematical Modeling With Data; Introduction to Information Technology; English Composition); champion remote collaboration on intra university project work (i.e. website design, curriculum development, professional development support, learning communities) via the use of social networking tools. Collaborate with peers to realize online and f2f PD events for TESOL Arabia Educational Technology "special interest group" and Tamakkan.
