Oman: Regional Building Services Manager
Responsible for the strategic direction and the establishment of management procedures including design and estimation for the MEP contracting division. Responsible for the day to day running of the in house MEP contracting division and the in house commissioning teams and for providing advice regarding sustainability.
Immediate superior is the Operations Director for the Middle East and North Africa region.

Regional Commissioning Manager
Responsible for the adequacy of commissioning provision and procedures on all of Carillion Alawi sites. Based on the companies most complex site James fulfils his roaming brief by managing other sites through briefing and assisting other MEP or commissioning managers. Immediate superior is the Operations Director for the Middle East and North Africa region.
Oman: December 2007 to January 2009: Operations Manager MEP Services
Responsible for the pre and post tender MEP works for the Oman Region and for providing advice with regard to sustainable development. Also responsible for the MEP management at the Opera House until a replacement was found in June 2008
Immediate superior is the Operations Director for the Middle East and North Africa region.
Oman: July 2007 to June 2008:
M and E Services Manager for The Royal Opera House - Muscat Project: Similar duties to the QAA Project. Immediate superior was the Project Director.
Oman: July 2006 to July 2007: M and E Services Manager for The Muscat City Centre Expansion Project.
Responsible for all aspects of services co-ordination including change and design management, quality control, programme preparation and monitoring, cost reporting, supervision of inspectors, vetting and acceptance of design information, co-ordination of contractors, chairing meetings and liaison with the client's design team and with statutory authorities.
Immediate superior was the Project Director.
Oman: September 2001 to July 2006: M and E Services Manager for the Qasr Al Alam Guest House - Muscat. (QAA)
James was assigned to this project through a recommendation from the Client based on his performance on the Bait Al Barkah Palace project. Although the services design of this palace is similar to the Bait Al Barkah Palace, the floor area is three times as large at 60, 000 M2 and the power distribution is 11kV. In addition to the duties undertook for the previous palace James was also responsible for cost reporting. He controlled a team of six inspectors and three quantity surveyors. Immediate superior was the Project Director.
Oman: December 1997 to March 2001: Mechanical and Electrical Services Manager for the Bait Al Barkah Palace.
The complex covers an area of 50 acre and comprises three principal buildings and several ancillary structures, all of which are served by a centralized chilled water system, a dedicated sewage treatment plant, centralized fresh water storage and a HV distribution electrical supply.
Responsible for all aspects of services co-ordination including design management, quality control, programme preparation and monitoring, supervision of inspectors, vetting and acceptance of design information, co-ordination of contractors, chairing meetings and liaison with the client's design team. Immediate superior was the Project Director.
Dubai: February 1995 to December 1997.
Mechanical and Electrical Services Manager for The National Bank of Dubai.
The National Bank of Dubai is a very high quality finished building of 24 stories plus two basement levels of car parking.
As the M&E Manager, Architectural and Structural Coordinator James was responsible for the management of all services contractors, the management of the design and the on site co-ordination of all architectural and structural activities. His site team included site engineers, supervisors and clerical staff. His duties also included the programming of works, quality control and client liaison. Immediate superior was the project manager.
Bahrain. September 1993 to February 1995.
Mechanical and Electrical Co-ordination Manager for a large palace complex which incorporates a main residential building and several smaller residential, recreational, offices and service buildings. James was responsible for managing the co ordination of the various consultants and contractors to progress the project in an orderly fashion and within the programme constraints. Immediate superior was the Project Manager.
Chartered Engineer
TEC Higher Technician's Certificate in building services engineering design. Passed with distinction in 1982. Full TEC/HNC in Mech. Eng. design. Indentured Technical Apprenticeship.
