Leader for all Integrity matters across the Middle East, Pakistan and Iran for UK Visas and Immigration, ensuring stakeholders understand the importance of integrity, identifying developmental opportunities across the region and leading on regional process and compliance improvement. Responsibility for protecting systems and networks by strengthening processes in place and identifying areas for improvement. Oversight of all investigations ensuring they are carried out to the required standard and that the appropriate action is taken. Ensuring staff and suppliers are compliant with current regulations and processes and encourage staff to participate in integrity improvements to mitigate risk, also taking on UK and regional taskings on matters to detect and eliminate fraud and corruption.
Achievements
• Devised a GRC programme for the organisation with training and education to invoke culture change which has resulted in significantly improving the integrity and ethics of the organisation.
Managing a large team conducting investigations for legal and integrity reasons, and providing evidence for immigration courts; also employing skills as a forgery expert with a track record of identifying and pursuing forgery matters and making and analysing risk profiles.
Achievements
• A key member of the event management team in the successful state visit by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the UAE in November 2010.
• Reduced costs by 5% whilst increasing the security of staff, customers and external stakeholders by assisting in creating a regional visa hub in Abu Dhabi.
A line management role involved with making decisions in complex immigration and human rights applications as an entry clearance officer, as well as fulfilling responsibilities as a forgery expert conducting investigations to identify and pursue forgery matters and creating risk profiles. The role also involved providing evidence for immigration courts.
Achievements
• Successfully relocated the visa section to Abu Dhabi, resulting in a 5% cost reduction and the increased the security of staff, customers and external stakeholders.
• Increased revenue figures by 30% by successfully promoting the UK as the elite place to study.
The role of Executive Officer involved project management and Human Resources, running multiple recruitment drives, defining and implementing HR policy in line with legislation, and the training and development of staff, as well as responsibility for the management of a casework team and making immigration decisions.
Achievements
• Manage resources more effectively using new UK legislation which resulted in £40Million in savings over 18 months.
• Managed a staff re-grading exercise which resulted in a 20% reduction in costs, reduction of backlogs and the promotion of 30 new junior management staff.
Responsible for the investigation of companies’ tax affairs which involved conducting visits to enforce UK tax legislation and compiling evidence for the UK courts; also dealing with complaints and correspondence, as well as tax refunds in instances of overpayment.
Achievements
• Enforced UK Taxation legislation which increased UK treasury revenue by millions of pounds per annum.
