Position Summary

Plans, organizes, coordinates, and supervises KAUST Fire Station and on-duty officers. Also assumes responsibility for operation of the fire organization, at the unit level, in fire fighting, rescue, emergency medical or other emergency calls. He is also responsible for fire inspection program covering residential, commercial, and industrial facilities, KAUST employee & resident fire training.

Duties and responsibilities.

1. Performs all managerial functions common as established by KAUST management.
2. Transmit orders to subordinates and maintains discipline.
3. Serves as KAUST Fire organization representative for the assigned within KAUST area, advises local Government officials, committees or other meetings on fire fighting or fire prevention matters.
4. Supervises, coordinates, and directs activities of Deputy Fire Chiefs and assigns daily tasks.
5. Monitors operational readiness at the fire station within his jurisdiction.
6. Establishes field command post and assumes command or initiates the incident command system at fire alarms and determines, from observation, nature and extent of fire, condition of building, danger to adjacent building, source of water supply, strategy and tactics to control or mitigate the situation, directs emergency crew accordingly.

14. Reviews reports and records of Department activities and operations and take appropriate action when required to assure they are effective.
15. Approves issue of fire equipment required by departments operating within his jurisdiction. Ensures that new equipment issued is included in inspection program. Queries unusual requests at the superintendent level.
