Chief Safety Officer at Electrical Contractors on Sasol Sites

In September 2002, I was employed by Murray & Roberts as their Chief Safety Officer on the Sasol AAA IBL Project. The Project was completed middle 2003 when I was asked to help Netgroup with their Safety Standards, Risk Assessments and Procedures.
Sasol hired me from Netgroup as the Chief Safety Officer for their Electrical Contractors on Sasol Sites. I was the Senior Environmental and Safety Officer. I did Inspections for Sasol on their Temane /Secunda Gas line on a weekly basis. I did most of the Risk Assessments and Procedures for the Contractors on the pipe line. I was Chief Safety Officer on seven new Sub- Stations build on Sasol 1 and Midlands sites. I did most of the inspections on all the heavy lifts that was done. I was responsible for most of the Scaffold inspections. I provided Risk Assessments for A.C.E. Electrical Contractors and Frazer Alexander who worked on the Gas Line. I can operate most of the Heavy duty machinery.

Safety Officer
  • January 1986 to December 1986

In 1986 I started my mining career at Impala Bafokeng South No 4 Shaft as a Safety Officer underground. My duty was Environmental Survey and general underground Safety. I Helped out as Safety Manager when the Safety Manager was not available. I was transferred to 11 Shaft. In 1994 the entire No 11 Shaft of Bafokeng South was retrenched

On 18/01/1995 I was employed as a Safety Consultant on a contract basis for Chromecorp Pty Ltd Wonderkop. I assisted in writing the Risk Assessment, Procedures, and was permanently employed in 1999.
The company's name was changed to Xstrata Wonderkop and I was appointed Chief Safety Officer and started to train Safety Representatives. I did Risk Assessment and Safety Awareness training. The company asked me to write their own courses in Risk Assessment, Safety Awareness and Safety Representation.
In April 2001 I left the company and joined Louwill Engineering as their Safety Consultant for the A.C.P. Project Waterfall Smelters in Rustenburg. I was responsible for all the Occupational, Health, Safety and Environmental Procedures and Risk Assessments.
