Working for Freeholder whereby we rented out serviced offices to 14 small businesses. Further expansion was planned and set to take place end of February 2008. Yearly Licence Agreements were issued which resulted in the collection of monthly rents. All other aspects of the running of the office was:- 1. raising the odd invoice 2. chasing the odd invoice 3. petty cash and subsequent spreadsheet for the photocopying 4. meeting all visitors to Old Bank House 5. arranging viewing of vacant office suites 6. Microsoft IT office suite skills: City & Guilds Diploma 7. Answering the phone/message taking 8. Banking of rental cheques - in the £100's 9. Sorting mail to in-house clients (Tenants) and 16 accommodation address clients (outside) 10. Dealing with all enquiries and when necessary communicating with the Director 11. Arranging the professional trades to come in and sort out problems 12. And the unexpected! 13. I devised a Database file called 'Archive New Client' which listed all prospective tenants and once the Licence Agreement had been signed Tenants. I filed names in alphabetical order focusing on the Surname first followed by the second name. At a touch of a button I had an overview of the 16 office suites and whether rents were up-to-date or in arrears and if they were in arrears 8% above the Bank of England Base Rate (5.25%) would be charged from the first week of arrears. For security reasons I would 'Protect' this file: another great success for me personally in the work place.

This job was a temporary career change to broaden my understanding of the 'human experience' and to experience the caring industry first hand for future reference: it was a good move and have underpinned my knowledge and how to arrange care/housekeeping arrangements in a seamless fashion: am now concentrating on my real work place environment and that is the office with state-of-the-art IT; I have also been studying the French language. Undertaken all required with Caring For You Ltd in respect of caring for our Service Users. On-going training, evaluations and appraisals run side-by-side with caring in the community. On-call 24/7 with other variable working situations i.e. live-in for a period of time: long or short.
One runs one's own car and hence its running costs for this type of work with a petrol allowance refunded at the end of the tax year.
One is responsible for all paperwork and therefore one's 'file' and recording keeping which does include presenting regular invoices for work done.
This has been a very rewarding work direction for me and has repaid me on many levels i.e with family and friends.
I am working at home studying the French language, its grammar and all referenced to my English; my on-going working portfolio is a good example of my writing and recording skills and is available for viewing in the event of a firm job offer; I am also involved in Charitable interests on a voluntary basis and the International Charity is in 149 countries worldwide and was formed over 180 years ago; recently our Prime Minister The Right Honourable David Cameron recognised the work of this society and gave it a highly coveted 'Big Society Award' and this I feel is well worth mentioning.
