Developments of Polymers and their nanocomposite for membrane materials advances (Nano Filtration, Ultra Filtration), as well as water-borne coating materials

Education

Doctorate, PhD. Polymer science
  • at Jamia Millia Islamia
  • September 2008

Javed Alam is a material chemist with an emphasis in polymer chemistry, particularly in the area of membrane material science and technology. He has been a research faculty of King Abdullah Institute for Nanotechnology (KAIN), King Saud University since 2010. He received his Ph.D. from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, India in 2009. He undertook postdoctoral training on polymeric membrane advances for Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF), and Reverse Osmosis (RO) membranes at the UKM in Malaysia until when he joined the research faculty at KAIN. He is currently responsible for the materials synthesis for membrane advances and design, engineering, fabrication, and testing of membrane. He is the author of more than 35 technical publications followed by attaining and representing research work more than 15 International conferences. He has supervised many of undergraduate projects regarding membrane development for separation and purification applications, and is currently supervising one master thesis focusing on polymeric nanocomposite membrane for the desalination. Moreover, he has a potential to address and resolve the current polymeric membrane problems by using his PhD and PDF experiences on the synthesis of new polymer, and nanocomposites/blends. Keeping in mind his expertise in the field of polymer science and technology, it is hoping that Dr Javed Alam is an appropriate candidate to strengthen any research group working on membrane and coating technology.
