I am currently working for the UAE largest commercial IPTV project i.e. Etisalat IPTV project as a Team Leader (Networks). I am leading the network implementation team and is responsible for all E2E network related issues in IPTV platform. My duties for this project include.
+ Designing, Planning & Implementation of IPTV network solution comprises of Huawei DataComm Hardware and Software.
+ Installation, commissioning and O&M of Huawei Routers NE40E-X16, NE40E-X8 and Huawei Quidway Switches S9300, S5300 and S2500.
+ Writing technical documentation of Higher and Lower level designs of the solution.
+ Performing live network cutovers of IPTV POP sites.
+ Writing network fault analysis and troubleshooting reports for the Internal and customer higher level management.
+ Representing Huawei in the customer meetings with multi-vendors stakeholders.
+ Configuring PIM-SSM, IGMP, BTV channel, Fast channel change and BFD on Huawei high-end Routers and Switches.
+ Administration of UAE Nation wide IPTV network nodes.
+ Managing a team of engineers for the smooth network implementation & maintenance of IPTV.
I worked in Cybernet (ISP) as a Network Engineer in the Network Operations Center (NOC). My duties included:
+ Liaising with ISP customers and upstream providers (SingTel, Flag Tel, etc) to keep the service up.
+ Monitoring country wide IP/MPLS, Dialup, DSL, Frame relay and Wireless infrastructure for status and potential problems with tools such as CACTI/MRTG, IRONVIEW, SYSLOG.
+ Configuring Routers (Cisco: 3600, 7200, Juniper: J2300, J4300 and M5, M10, M10i) & Layer 2 & 3 Switches (Cisco 2950, CAT 6K).
+ Hands on experience of working with routing protocols OSPF, BGP, MPLS etc.
+ Installation, analysis & configuration of Network Access Servers (NAS’s) (Lucent MAX TNT and 6K).
+Managing and configuring DSLAMS (Paradyne and Huawei).
+ Experience of working with Foundry switches (Big Iron and Fast Iron Family).
+ Maintaining MRTG’s for the network.
+ Implement project plans received from pre sales department for commissioning of new circuits.
+ Providing first level of support for technical and corporate support departments.
+ Hands-on experience of working with CISCO PIX Firewall 525.
During this two months student internship I worked in Pakistan Internet Exchange (PIE), the main HUB for all Pakistan internet traffic. It gave me the opportunity of learning the basic concepts of internet, IP & data networks, network troubleshooting and maintenance.
Obtained my MS Internetworking degree from one of the world top raking university i.e KTH (KTH, Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm, Sweden). Major Subjects are Internet Security & Privacy, Advanced Internetworking, Security in Mobile & Wireless Communication, Practical VOIP, Telecommunication & Regulatory principles, Inter domain Routing.
Scholarship: Received scholarship in 7th semester on getting highest GPA during last year in the batch.
