After one year of teaching at WSS, I got promoted as the Head of the Primary English Department where I successfully carried out the following tasks: Ensured effective curriculum planning and development from Year 1-5, checked weekly lesson plans, termly test questions, marks and other requirements related to the subject, supervised and evaluated teachers through class observations and performance management to ensure quality of teaching and learning, provided support, training and mentoring to a group of teachers, improved primary students' reading skills as shown in the results of their internal and external assessments and implemented various programs to further develop students' English proficiency which includes guided reading, in-house competitions, etc.

Part of my responsibilities included the following: Assisted the Principal and the Academic Coordinator in the supervision of the department's instructional program in his/her respective field, planned with the Academic Coordinator a relevant development program for the teachers to ensure their academic, professional and personal growth, defined subject area's input towards the realization of the goals and objectives of the institution and of the department, agreed on a plan of activities such as construction of test questions, and classroom observations on innovative teaching and other activities specific to the area, supervised and evaluated the teachers through class observations and checked weekly lesson plans, quarterly test questions, grades and other requirements pertinent to the area.
