As a Civil/Structure Engineer, review contracts awarded to different contractors along with visiting sites along three main canals spread over 350 kilometer length. Prepare new contracts with new contracts for piling works carried out for bridges and regulatory works. Regularly coordinating with the consulting company Mott MacDonald to discuss the technicalities of achieved progress in order to remove the bottle necks occurred to hamper the project progress and the quality of work. Responsibilities:
• supervising the operations in building earth or rock embankments that serve as foundations for pavement; conducted gradation tests, compaction tests and moisture contact tests to ensure material is of correct size and is of proper densities; checked thickness of the layer of materials placed and the type and suitability of compaction equipment; assists in survey, layout and measurement activities.
• reviewing the placement of concrete for pavements and for bridge piers and abutments; conducted air content tests, slump tests and obtained cylinders for subsequent load tests; supervised contractor's method of handling and placing concrete to minimize segregation, the finishing of the concrete, and the method of curing, paving trains to ensure a smooth concrete pavement.
• Inspecting along with site supervision team the erecting of steel to ensure correct placement; field welds; inspects surface preparation and the painting of steel.
• Supervision of the installation of culverts, sewers and ditches; ensured that excavation of trenches was done in a safe manner for proper alignment and grade, that correct material was placed and properly shaped to "bed" the pipe and that backfill over pipe was of correct material and properly compacted.
• Supervision the placement of asphalt pavement; ensured temperature for placement was correct, lift thickness was in conformance with specifications, and the asphalt was properly compacted.
• Supervision the production at a batch plant of Portland cement concrete or bituminous concrete; ensured that ingredients were from an approved source (i.e., stone, sand, asphalt or cement), that they were mixed in correct proportions for a specified time period; that automation features of the plan were working properly; maintained documentation of tests and delivery; performed materials test, quantity calculations and related activities in the Materials Unit.
• Calculating actual construction project length, areas and volumes to support authorization of payments to the contractor; performed technical checking activities in support of administering the contract; performed other technical and engineering-related functions as required.

As a construction supervisor he was responsible for:
• Supervision and management of RCC and brick masonry works carried out on cross-drainage works on right bank outfall drainage on 35 locations along with the construction of Box and RCC Pipe culverts
• Also implemented drinking water systems which included the construction of RCC water storage tanks, laying of large water supply pipe lines and fixing of Water points at different locations along with the installation of water filter plants.
• He also worked on the construction of blacktop main roads, underground utility works like storm water sewers, Main Sewers, Sewage disposal tanks including sewage treatment plants, etc
Projects: Implementation of Community Physical Infrastructure Phase-III, IV and V
As a civil engineer he was involved in Surveying, designing and monitoring during execution of 200 community based water, sanitation, and infrastructure projects like under-ground and overhead water storage reservoirs fitted with slow sand filters, distribution pipeline, shallow hand pumps, shallow tube wells for irrigation, small bridges, link roads, brick pavements. In order to enhance the ownership of the projects by community, community participation in the shape of cash or labour was ensured. The Community share ranged from 20% to 30% of the total cost of a project. I also provided training to community activists for executing the projects themselves, management, storage, and disinfection of drinking water.
