Retail Sales Manager at Sterling Bank Plc
  • Nigeria
  • My current job since May 2015

My roles as a Relationship Manager among others are: Acquisition and enrollment of new business relationship with the aim of increasing customer base and also solidifying existing customer base. The customer base is key to achieving my main targets of generating liabilities and creation of risk assets so as to attain a profitable position in my business unit.
This leads to the role of Customer Relationship Management of both new and existing customer by seeking, handling and ultimately providing solutions to customer requests, challenges and disputes arising from services rendered.
As a Relationship Manager it is my responsibility of Account Management of my clients as well as those clients of my team members as the team lead, this involves account documentation, account opening, provision of respective account operation tools \[such as cheque books, debit cards, mobile and internet banking applications\] to account holders and clients.
It is my duty to train, orient and reorient the branch/unit of business staffs on the various Products, new and upgraded products and services, changes in policy and a general summary revision for staffs to be up to date on products and services.
Another key aspect of being a Retail Sales Manager is the development of the Retail Business to cope and suit with the environment and growing market, the need to research and deploy effective tools that will bring in a large chunk of the fiercely competitive market into the bank.
As a Small & Medium Enterprises \[S.M.E\] Analyst, i am to sought for eligible S.M.E’s to educate, properly register with appropriate legal bodies and subsequently get acquainted with the benefits of banking, this is chiefly due to S.M.E’s location at grass root levels, whereby they are uninformed of the vast opportunities they stand to gain from banking. Hence the Retail Sales Manager has to be keen at understanding their different challenges and be able to advise on the best and favorable solution on case by case basis.
The responsibility of appraising Agricultural & Export Finance funding to eligible clients is also among the roles I undertake as a Retail Sales person. Principally under this role I am charged with sourcing qualified clients to access the Federal Government of Nigeria subsidized funding on single digit loans and for them to access the purchase of foreign exchange at Central Bank of Nigeria.
The Retail Manager is also tasked with obligation of various Reports Generation on timely basis with most of them on weekly & monthly basis so to to develop Documents and Data which will be used to measure growth and performances. Most weekly reports are transmitted electronically and on monthly basis a presentation is done at the regional performance review meetings.
As a team lead you are to source and employ team members that fall under the category of Sales Associates & Sales Agents, you will also be responsible for Service Orientation of the new recruits, documentation and provision of start up kits and working materials. Also on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis you will conduct their appraisals, and make appropriate recommendations on their performances.
