Report to the Senior Project Manager
Accountable for leading the HSE Safety Management System for the operations and maintenance of the project
Lead a team of 20 HSE officers
Develop and implement a detailed Safety Management System across the entire project
Liaise with the University to ensure campus and project safety for all contractors, employees, students and community on site.
Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for the project.
Control and improve the Permit to Work (PTW) process for the project.
Ensure Emergency Preparedness Plan interlinks with the Universities plan.
Accountable for leading, planning, organizing, controlling and implementing the health, safety and risk management function of the Board by writing and developing policies and procedures for student, staff and contractor safety and educating and training staff.
Conducted system wide safety audit, identified areas of weakness and opportunities for improvement
Reduced compensation costs by $400K by implementing various policies, programs and initiatives. Recognized provincially for 5 consecutive years for lowest compensation rates.
Extensive training and enforcement of FM staff and contractors.

Develop HSE procedures, operating and working methods to meet the occupational health and safety objectives.
Ensure compliance of company safety standards according to ISO18001, ISO14001 and ISO 9001 and provincial regulations and procedures.
Conducted hazard identification and risk assessments for new processes.
Liaised with FM department in developing policies, procedures and training.
Developed auditing and training programs, metrics, and performance measurements in line with business strategy to drive accountability and change.
Reduced compliance violations by 45% over two years by defining success factors and metrics to increase accountability
Conducted plant wide guarding audit and implemented corrective actions and methods.
Complete industrial hygiene testing including chemical and noise exposure.
Wrote and implemented exposure control programs and plans in order to mitigate injury and illness.
Liaised with external agencies (i.e. Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment) and followed up on compliance issues
Established a plant emergency response team and trained team to respond to several chemical emergencies.
