• Responsible for the operational activities of CSSD throughout the particular shifts to which assigned.
• Receives and resend all surgical instruments trays/sets and report about and damaged instruments to the supervisors.
• Follows Universal Precaution by wearing the appropriate protective attire while working in the Decontamination area.
• Decontaminate surgical instruments and other medical equipment as needed by keeping a continuous flow of moving thru the process.
• Utilize appropriate cleaning detergents and agents by reading directions and MSDS sheet.
• Follow manufacturer instruction when dealing with the reusable equipment i.e. power equipment and delicate complex items.
• Inspects all the instruments for cleanliness, proper function, and breakage by viewing the instruments before assembly.
• Assembles surgical trays and equipment following established tray listings.
• Wraps or pouches items according to size and type of instruments or following established protocols.
• Challenged the sterilization process by using internal and external Chemical Indicators and biological Indicator monitoring of equipment appropriately. Monitor read document and interpret all parameters for steam sterilization to ensure proper function.
• Sterilize instruments and surgical trays by following prescribed policies and procedure.
• Process and produce sterile item according to standard.
