( Nurse Anesthetist/Recovery Room Nurse)
• Responsible for assembling supplies and equipment; test functioning of all the machines, suctions, monitor etc.
• Responsible for cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment by set procedures for each patient.
• Study exam results to determine effects of anesthetic on patient and inform the anesthetist/surgeons if there are abnormal findings.
• Responsible for checking that appropriate blood is available for emergency use, or if none inform the doctors
• Responsible for explaining procedure to patient to build confidence and cooperation
• Responsible for verifying identification and position patient on operating table
• Responsible for administering initial medications prescribed by a physician
• Responsible for preparing prescribed solutions for and start intravenous injections
• Responsible for giving anesthetic and maintain patient during surgery as ordered by the Anesthesiologist.
• Responsible for watching the patient for changes in skin color and dilation of pupils
• Responsible for taking patient's vital signs at regular intervals and evaluate the significance of any changes.
• Responsible for informing physician of patient's condition and assist with emergency procedures if necessary.
• Responsible for taking necessary action to prevent airway obstruction or shock.
• Responsible for maintaining records of each anesthetic administered.
• Assist in moving patients to the recovery room or to their floor.
