Manage Oracle database administration assignments for Al-Ain municipality (AAM). Lead problem resolution teams. Take ownership of problems and ensure that solutions meet the customer’s needs for security and continuity. Plan and implement disaster recovery and standard recovery testing using established documentation. Review results and make recommendations for changes to the customer and peers. Review and make recommendations related to access security and audit trails according to the business requirements. Provide DBMS leadership and participate in special studies, and formal proposals. Ensure DBMS configuration, design, analysis, tuning, and implementation plans are accurate and correspond to established best practices.
Key projects:
• Was responsible for planning and performing the upgrade of Oracle databases from 10.2.0.5/Win2k3 to 11.2.0.3/Win2k8.The upgrade process included:
Installing RAC 11.2.03 on 2 clusters
Upgrading 4 dbs from 10.2.0.5 to 11.2.0.3
• Was part of a team that supoorted AAM in successfully achieving ISO 27001:2005 accreditation for information protection and security.

•Served as Application Tech lead in a 13-month Infrastructure Upgrade project: Infrastructure comprised∙ Oracle 10g RAC active-active clusters∙ SQL Server 2005 active-passive clusters∙ EMC Clarion SAN & Networker backup solution∙ ACE network load balance∙ Cisco FireWall Services Module.
Major responsibilities:
Participated in evaluating vendors tendering for the project
Participated in producing the test & release strategy
Assisted vendors in producing Low Level Designs & TOP documents for the new environment
Led team of DBAs and Developers to test & migrate all production applications & Databases into the new environment.
Hand-over support to operations team
Provide direction to Operation Team in the support of production environments. Define and enforce standards, best practices and disciplines relating to DataBase Management & Architecture and Application Administration. Budget Preparation. Resolving performance issues. Ensure the DataBase and Application servers are reliable and available. Ensure systems are proactively monitored for health and performance. Delegate technical tasks and responsibilities to appropriate team members. Work with management to develop goals & direction. Participates in project planning sessions and meetings. Disaster Recovery for the Corporate Databases. Closely work with DBA to monitor and tune the system and database performance. Closely work with developers to setup new application functions, identify and troubleshoot application problems.
Key projects:
•Security Policies/Procedures: Based on an international IT auditor’s report, security policies/procedures on our DBs/Apps servers were implemented. This included: Disaster Recovery Procedures, Change management procedures for DB structure. Application Systems Versioning Procedure, Setting Performance Acceptable levels, DB activities auditing, Procedures for creation/suspending/removal of new accounts, Password Complexity
•Secure a High Availability environment for Oracle DBs/Solaris: Upgrade to 10g, setting up external storage, configuring grid control, active-passive clustering and disaster recovery simulation.
•Group Intranet Site: Led the Analysis and development of the Group Intranet site using Oracle9i as Backend Database and ASP, JavaScript and HTML as web development languages. Site Main Functions: - Automating the IT, Legal and Administration Help Desk services. - Integrating Human Resources/Administration Policies and Procedures for browsing and search purpose - Publishing monthly newsletter. All these modules run parallel with MS Exchange Server 2000.
