Exposed to all areas of healthcare diagnostics in patient care.
As a volunteer for four consecutive years in several missions, supported physicians in both pre- operative and post-operative procedures and also served as a translator between the English- speaking doctors and Arabic-speaking parents and guardians. I also observed several cleft palate surgeries
A study performed to explore the genetics of Autism, where specific chromosomal regions of autistic patients were analyzed in comparison to control samples.
Gained hands-on practical experience in the different departments of the medical lab; HLA typing, pathology, histology, anatomy, Bone Marrow Transplantation, and phlebotomy.
One week training included a full rotation of the process of in vitro fertilization from egg-harvesting to embryo transplantation.
Final year modules included a focus on Neoplasia, Regenerative Medicine and Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. Throughout the degree course, I gained advanced knowledge on all aspects of Immunology, Virology, Pathology, Bacteriology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology and Molecular cell signaling. Completed a laboratory research project and combined a dissertation entitled “Analysing how microRNA expression in Embryonic stem cells and induced Pluripotent Stem cells governs gene expression and differentiation” receiving a grading of Second Class Honors, first division. Graduated with a BSc in Cellular and Molecular Medicine with Honors (2:1).
