Serve as manager and key sworn translator.
Providing verbal translation services upon request.
Coordinate all external activities between MHC and NGOs (Local and International) and government departments;
•Prepare Three-Year Strategic Work Plan and Annual Work-Plan;
•Prepare all training proposals whether those conducted by MHC for staff from other counterparts or for trainings/workshops attended by MHC staff;
•Consolidate the monthly and annual reports;
•Prepare activity reports such as trainings, workshops conducted at MHC or attended by MHC staff;
•Update the report compiled on success stories for MHC;
•Maintain the table of trainings/workshops conducted at MHC or attended by MHC staff;
•Prepare minutes of meetings held at MHC;
•Receive visitors (mainly internationals), brief them on MHC background, activities, obstacles, challenges and respond to their queries;
•Translate documents into/from (English, Arabic, Kurdish) that were requested by MHC manager;
•Serve as interpreter as and when needed;
•Act as resource person for drafting English and Arabic outgoing documents/letters;
Note: I rejected renewal of my contract beyond 31st of Dec. 2008 primarily due to the low salary.
Act as team leader for a group of 4-5 survey teams each of 2 surveyors involved in interviewing the internally displaced families (
Accompany Coalition Forces (CF) teams going out for field visits or attending meetings with local authorities and provide verbal interpretation services.
•Provide written translation for miscellaneous documents related mostly to project activities and security.
•Coordinate/arrange meetings and appointments for CF teams and/or personnel with local authorities and/or NGOs and individuals.
•Act as a guide and interpreter for CF teams visiting Duhok from other parts of the country for different purposes.
Translating of miscellaneous documents including Job Descriptions, training agendas, instructions and other incoming correspondences from/into (English/Arabic/Kurdish).
•Drafting letters, E-Mails, circulars for the whole company in English, Arabic and Kurdish.
•Providing verbal interpretation during meetings or may be needed.
•Preparing Misc. computerized forms required for the company’s daily work.
•Providing translation support to international experts who were training local employees how to operate the company’s machines.
Note: Most of the translation was in the area of mechanics.
Provide secretarial support to the LO through typing memos, letters, reports …etc., arranging appointments (involving sometimes high ranking officials), receiving visitors, placing and screening Tel. calls and responding to queries as appropriate.
•Assist other staff in drafting Misc. documents to ensure accurate and meaningful language.
•Assist in consolidating mandatory reports after receiving input from Progam Sections and Logistic.
•Maintain the filing system for the LO office.
•Act as rapporteur in staff meetings and other meetings as requested by the supervisor and draft the minutes.
•Act as interpreter for LO and other international teams/visitors meeting the Local Authorities.
•Provide formal translation for incoming/selective outgoing correspondence from/to LA. Act as interpreter during workshops/reviews.
•Clear and review correspondences received from all sections and ensure conformity with standard formats and accuracy of statements before being submitted for LO’s signature.
•Maintain list of names and Tel No.s for UN Agencies, NGOs and government counterparts.
•Perform any other task as requested by the supervisor.
