Commissioned officer in the Army(Brigadier). Carrier Started as a Field engineering officer and work all parts in the country.Exposure that I gained as a military officer molded me to the man I am today where I am capable of planning and handling all security issues from mission to plan and execution including all areas in between in any type of environment and conditions up to military Divisional and Corps level. With more than 30 years of field experience, I am also capable of providing advice and training to any level of uniform staff as well as civilians of any Category including NGO`s . I am equally confident of handling all the administrative and logistic issues including financial management. At present I am managing the biggest private fund in the Sri Lanka Army which is worth more than 35 Billion Rupees and involves many accounting and administrative functions. I am fully familiar with the latest IT and related communication development strategies and the media as well and have proved in no uncertain terms of my capability in dealing with any type of stress and emergency situations and fluency in counseling depressed individuals effectively. Another of my qualifications is in Bomb Disposal and handling of UXO`s and IED`s as well. The UN observer course that I followed in India gave me additional support to understand the working environment of the UN. As a true leader I am confident of achieving my mission very productively with minimum resources and time and in taking calculated risks. I am a team member who can work collaboratively with colleagues and have the ability to enjoy myself in the field while taking very strong and effective timely decisions and certainly eager to learn from others and new technologies.
Various levels of military training and experiences as well as advanced training I have obtained from highly recognized military training establishments and other Institutions local and aboard has enabled me to enlighten my skills very effectively. From 2nd Lieutenant to Brigadier with more than 30 years of my carrier path in the Sri Lanka Army with many appointments up to now, I have been fortunate to learn from tremendous experiences that were vital, devastating and at times bordering on life and death situations. In addition to this vast experience, I was seconded to the Civil Security Department of Sri Lanka as a Director Personnel administration and Director Operations for a period of more than 3 years in 2007; where I was fully engaged in the total administrative and operational functions of 42000 men and woman who were deployed in the country as an auxiliary and development force. From their recruitment to retirement, maintaining of personal files and other documents, various types of training and developments, promotions compensation, management and all other human resources issues were my responsibility and at the same time operational deployment also came under my purview. Here I gained practical experience of my professional skills earned from HR diplomas which I had qualified from Local and UK business learning institutions.
The following courses have also provided added strength to my career: Diploma in English for professionals (SLIDA), Diplomacy & International Relations course(BCIS), Higher Defense Orientation course (Army War College India), UN Military Observer course (USI-CUPNK India), Disaster Management Course ( SLIDA), Contract Management course (SLIDA) & Reading for MSc in Military Science & Technology.
Professional training in the Army, various skills / knowledge development courses I have followed has given me an insight into various international and domestic laws, rules and regulations and customs and traditions etc, pertaining to different fields. These experiences have helped me in further fine-tuning my professional competence and ability in managing men and material to produce effective results in any organization.
