Consultant at Huawei Technologies SOC/CEM
  • Saudi Arabia - Riyadh
  • January 2015 to April 2018

Presenting SOC (Service operating Centre) & CEM solutions to customers; providing technical solutions, product support and customer support as well as Transformation solutions.
As a consultant, I successfully interfaced directly with the customer at C and Director level to provide the SOC/CEM solution based on Huawei’s SEQ Big-data-platform.
I presented SOC/CEM solutions to operators in Turkey, Nepal and Sri-Lanka in late 2015.
I was then placed on assignment in Saudi Arabia until

Services Director at Alcatel-Lucen
  • Qatar - Doha
  • January 2016 to February 2017

on the Qatar Vodafone project.
My brief was to set up the operation of Managed services for the 2G/3G NGN network whereby we, ALU, totally managed the GSM network including Vendors and Suppliers. The equipment encompassed all aspects of the cellular network including BSS, Core, VAS, WFM, Transmission International Roaming portals, and the supporting OSS tools as well as the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning tool, (ALU in-house, Vitalsuite) to manage all assets including staff, spares, deployment etc, including the Surepay Billing suite.
The project was facing difficulties so I was brought in at short notice to rectify the situation. This required operational, rollout and managerial experience plus the fostering of an excellent working relationship with the customer, rollout teams and Civils vendors. The network was still being built when I commenced duties so we went through the stages of network rollout, switch-on, performance improvement and meeting all SLA’s and KPI’s that were required to avoid penalty and ensured all operational processes were to eTOM standards. (I am eTOM registered.)
We also off-shored the most of the NOC functions to the ALU GNOC in Poland so there was some degree of M&P’s, Process re-development and Change Management planning involved.
Further extensions to the MS Contract were being considered and I provided the MS technical and legal takes on those portions, effectively co-authoring the MS Contract extensions.
Co-authored 3rd-Party supply contracts for ALU outsourcing.
Serious and High-profile Call-centre originated Customer complaints were directed to me for attention and the Call-centre operations came under my scrutiny for revisions towards optimum efficiency.
I was key Operational lead for establishing the new recruits on the Payroll and HR system.
The customer was apparently pleased with my work and I received some flattering thank-you mails from both Vodafone and ALU.
Delivered successfully.

15 February until 15

Head
  • October 2013 to September 2014

A Converged network (MOCN or Multi-operator Core Network) Management Company was formed to manage the two RAN-contributing MNO’s. My brief was to instill an overall Transformation and Network Quality plan including methods and procedures and SLA’s across the operation. My three sub-departments include Network Performance and Reporting, Service desk (Customer (SP) and VIP complaints) as well as Business continuity.
I was also on the Tools Committee for the introduction of new ERP, NPM and TT tools.
The equipment that we managed included RAN (BSS) for 2g-3g, LTE, Transmission and the supporting OSS and Data network infrastructure as well as Maximo ERP, Remedy, IBM Netcool, NPM and in-house TT systems,
This was effectively a RAN Managed Services and rollout contract. The two SP’s provided their own CRM tools and staffing.
I happily left after a successful transformation of the operation.

, Paktel, Pakistan.
Contracted as a regional support CTO to the incumbent CTO but due to resignation of the NES manager, I filled in this role until a replacement could be found, which never occurred. I effectively performed both roles.
