Transport & Workshop Manager at Securex Agencies K Ltd

Operations:
• Overseeing the management of all company vehicle borne assets, covering all countries that Securex Agencies operate in.

• Reviewing on a monthly basis equipment, uniforms, literature/material, and software in use, highlighting areas that need improvement then a proposal including costing and supporting reasons presented to senior management team for action.
• Ensuring that all supporting equipment such as the workshop tool kits etc. are fully serviceable and maintained.
• Working within the company Health and Safety polices, as well as highlighting were appropriate areas of improvement.
Budget: Ensuring that the Transport & maintenance department is operating within budget.
Investigations: Acting as a focal point for investigations involving vehicle borne assets.
Training: Ensuring direct employees are being developed either internally or recommendations can be given to outsource training as need be.
People Management:
• Direct supervision of the Transport Section team ensuring objectives and targets are being met in the manner expected by the organization.
• Ensuring the performance of the Transport Section team are being monitored and measured in accordance with the company staff performance policy, taking necessary remedial action as and when necessary.
• I helped streamline the canine section by suggesting the acquisition of single unit dog carriers instead the trailer/truck unit which attracted increased maintenance costs as a result of on road breakdowns and other related damages. This was well taken by management and 3 new single unit dog carriers with a capacity of 20 dogs ordered.

• Managing workshop activity-planning, assigning and reviewing the work of all mechanics, welders and electricians in the workshop. Briefing the supervisors on the day’s work plans, who then supervise the work of the mechanics, Welders, Panel beaters and electricians. Developing and implementing of preventive maintenance schedules and ensuring that they are strictly followed in order to minimize equipment down time.
• Managing safety- Responsible for ensuring that the workshop is safely maintained, that all working areas are safe and that staff are fully trained to do their job efficiently and safely; and for making sure that safety regulations are followed in the workshop, by both workshop personnel and visitors.
• Managing staff-making recommendations regarding the recruitment, discipline and promotion of employees, authorizing leave and overtime, advising employees on work related problems, evaluating and assessing employee performance.
• Tyre Management services-Ensuring that tyre management personnel adopt the best practice to ensure cost saving by conducting timely fleet tyre inspections, making performance projections, running tyre performance fitment tests, analyzing scrap tyres to ascertain the exact causes of tyre failure and addressing them on time in order to maximize tyre life and minimize premature tyre loss.
• Internal Auditor to Quality Management System- Conducting periodic internal audits in conjunction with other internal auditors to ensure that company Quality Management System meets the requirements of ISO 9001 2008 standard, and that it’s adequate, operative and effective.
• Monitoring mechanical inventory parts usage and compiling monthly fleet cost accounting reports using SAP business one ERP and Fleet Maintenance Pro systems. Ensuring that the workshop runs within the budget allocation.
• Developing and Maintaining a motor vehicle and equipment plant register, keeping records of all maintenance activities and analyzing vehicle costs using the Fleet Maintenance pro system.
• I successfully introduced and implemented fleet maintenance pro system for maintenance and repairs records tracking, as well as PM scheduling
• I successfully helped the company achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification by developing the maintenance and warehouse procedures for the purpose of the ISO audit.
