Admits patients from the Emergency Department.
Takes vital signs and monitors them accordingly
Assesses, records, and refers to its attending physician about patient’s condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
Explains procedure and treatment ordered to gain cooperation and allay apprehension
Starting and monitoring IV lines and following IV fluids
Assisting in attaching mechanical ventilators
Attaching cardiac monitors, pulse oxymeters to critically ill patients
Assisting patient in deep breathing and coughing exercises, passive/active range of motion exercises, and turning
Monitors hydration status, and maintains strict I & O for patients with fluid overload and kidney and heart conditions
Preparing patients for diagnostic and surgical procedures: obtaining informed consent; allowing for verbalization of needs; physical preparations such as placing on NPO, testing for allergies, removing jewelries, dentures, nail polish, etc.
Assists in procedures like NGT insertion, wound dressings
Monitors post-operative patients as to vital signs, level of consciousness, amount of bleeding if any, presence of pain; promptly intervening and collaborating with other members of the healthcare team as appropriate.
Administer medications with respect to patient’s rights; ensuring proper skin testing for antibiotic therapy and observing for any other untoward reactions after administration of drugs.
Maintains strict aseptic technique especially in caring for immune-compromised patients.
Follows hospital protocol.
Documents and charts accurately all pertinent data as to patient care during the entire shift.
Encourages patients to verbalize feelings and ask questions, voice out concerns and interacting with them therapeutically.
Give health teachings as needed, discharge instructions as to health practices, drug regimen and follow up care
• Admissions of patients from Health Centers, which require further medical investigations
• Admissions and discharge of patients

• Doctors Rounds
• Perform minor procedures, such as endotracheal intubation, Lumbar tapping, Paracentisis, Central Venous pressure insertion, Nasogastric tube and Foley Catheter insertion etc
• Administer medication (oral, intravenous, intra muscular, and subcutaneous)
• Educating the patient in the aspect of prevention, curative and rehabilitative healthcare.
• Wound assessment, prevention of infection and dressing
• Pain control
• Maintenance of a clean and conducive environment.
