Reporting to the General Manager, I built and led a highly organized team of 8 within the purchasing and logistics function of an organization engaged in government services and civil infrastructure sectors in the Middle East and Afghanistan, by ensuring the most proficient purchasing strategies and the flow of goods from vendors in an efficient, cost effective and fastest possible way to meet business requirements with minimum interruptions to service.
 Planned, developed and implemented strategies for managing the centralized procurement function and processes required to support business operations and improve financial performance of the company
 Performed negotiations and purchases by ensuring that the required procurement actions are compliant to US Government procurement procedures and policies \[per FAR/DFAR regulations\]
 Conducted comprehensive research on products and suppliers to ensure reduction in lead time on materials sourced and ensure dealing with suppliers who adhere to committed lead times while maintaining best standards and quality.
 Directly supported RECON Design & Construction team of engineers and project managers in bidding for proposals required by highly challenging customers & critical Government contracts.
 Successfully maintained high ethical conduct within the team, with extreme importance on health, safety and environment.
 Put in place a robust process ensuring Best Business Practices for the Procurement Operations and ensure adherence to Company’s Policies and Procedures.
 Efficient business partner, ensuring effective communication with the end user as required (clients being US Military, US Marines, British Military in Afghanistan), ensuring smooth purchases and end user satisfaction.
 Ensuring the team negotiates and secures the most competitive deals on long-term procurement agreements with preferred suppliers ensuring firm fixed pricing, delivery schedules and terms and conditions clearly defined and understood by all parties.
 Prepared reports on team purchases / spending and performance that were reported to senior management on a weekly basis
 Responsible for hiring, mentoring and developing in-market procurement officers

• Reporting to the Procurement Manager, managed a team of 12 buyers purchasing all electrical and building materials for KBR contracts.
• Signing authority of $25, 000 - to review and sign off on all purchases (up to this limit) made by the team.
• Purchases of over USD 20 Million with recorded cost savings of over USD 1 million through negotiations and regional agreements.
• Ensuring compliance to KBR and its client’s procurement policies and procedures.
• Identify purchase requirements in terms of both stock and the right purchase of stocks to avoid aging of stocks. Review all purchase requests / related approvals prior to authorization and obtain clarification if required.
• Prepare and administer Purchase Orders and Contract Agreements for products purchased by the company.
• Maintain follow up with suppliers on goods delivery; handle all queries and relevant complaints.
• Developing and maintaining mutually advantageous contracts / relationships \[long-term & short terms\] with selected and specialized vendors via Regional Commodity Agreements.
• Analyze market and delivery conditions in order to determine present and future material availability. Prepare market analysis reports.

SPECIAL PROJECTS
• Conducting weekly trainings for the complete purchasing team as part of the process refresher program.
• Part of pilot team in KBR to develop the vendor database in Turkey to conduct purchases for Northern Iraq
