2003 - Present
Digital Photographer and Digital Panoramic Photographer.
- I have concentrated all of my time and efforts on the development of a photographic business that is mainly panoramic in nature. My time, when not teaching, is dedicated to my Digital Photography, using a Nikon D700 camera and Photoshop CS5. I have both local and Sydney based clients.
- I have also recently re-equipped myself with a 4x5" camera, lenses and lights as I still feel there are areas of photography where I can usefully merge old techniques with huge, high quality digital files.
I teach all aspects of photography, studio practice, lighting, Photoshop and Lightroom, business planning, financial planning, marketing and so much more.
2007 - 2011 - In addition to conventional classroom teaching, I also worked as an on-line photographic tutor for ACS Distance Education.

- After a difficult split with a studio partner, I took a break from photography and worked as an Advertising Copywriter, with Hamilton Wright in Cirencester. There I specialised in 'below-the-line' advertising and direct mail campaigns for numerous finance houses as well as for Volvo Cars UK. I had direct creative input in all of the work and developed some graphic design skills. I went freelance in 1998 and remained within the financial direct mail sector for three more years.
- During this time I also worked for the Face-2-Face Advertising Group in Dammam, Saudi Arabia and Manama City, Bahrain.
In this role I would create the original advertising concepts with an art director, write the headlines and body copy to go with the advertisements.
The agency moved to Bahrain during this period.
Professional Photographer in my own studio for a number of years and then with a business partner.
I ran my own photographic business for 7 years and formed a partnership which ended badly two years later.
I mainly worked for large 'Blue Chip' companies from all over Europe for their Corporate and Annual reports.
I was a visiting lecturer to two colleges, one in Swansea where I was a regular and another in Blackpool where I was casual.

Whilst I had my studios, a number of visiting students from a number of colleges came for extended periods of work experience.
1985 - 1987 Staff Photographer, for the UK Atomic Energy Authority.
I worked in the nuclear fuels production facility in Salwick, near Preston, Lancs.
My role was one that included photography of fuel, incidents, experiments, people and much more for reports and PR.
1983 - 1985 Photographic Student, Blackpool.
1981 - 1982 A - Level Student.
I joined the British army as an Apprentice Medical Trades in '76 and started working in hospital laboratories in January 1978. I served in Aldershot, the Royal Army Medical College Millbank and in Wroughton - with the RAF.
I began a transfer to the Ordnance Corps to be a photographer in 1981 but left the Army before that process was complete to go back to college and gain higher qualifications.
I looked at the effects on the photographic image and the effects of the photographic image of the distance between photographer and subject.
I was the youngest photographer to be awarded an Associate of the British Institute of Professional Photography.
This is a one year full time post HND course which was overseen by the British Institute of Professional Photographers that encourages the student to set up their own business or develop their own careers should they wish to be staff photographers.
