Rigger/telecoms installer
• Ensure proper inspection and use of personal safety equipment.
• Install various antenna and transmission lines along with ancillary
equipment on communication structures.
• Identifying and selects cables, ropes, blocks, and tackle by weight
and size of load to be moved.
• Responsible for aligning antennas, installing hangers, hoisting
grips, tower grounding, and installing tower reinforcing steel.
• Tower climbing on telecommunication towers at heights up to 100
meters (325 feet).
• Remove, install, and repair various types and sizes of transmission
lines including: Fibre, Coaxial, and DC power.
• Utilize winches and capstan for lifting materials into place on the
tower as required.
• Install pinwheels, structural steel, cable tray, conduits, antenna
mounts, antennas, transmission lines, and ancillary equipment on
communication towers.
• Perform plumb and tension on guyed structures.
• Adjusting antennas on the tower with the correct azimuth and tilts.
• Perform Microwave antenna installation and alignment.
• Wave-guide bridge installation for transmission lines.
• Conduct inventory inspections and sort received materials on site.
• Work safely on towers incorporating 100% tie-off - fall protection
practices.
• Anti-climbs and fall arrest systems.
• Lightning and Grounding systems.
Civil works trenching.
• Termination on Main distribution frames, Cabinets and distribution
points using krone modules and krone terminating tools.
• Cable faulting using OTDR and Tone Generator.
• MPLS network operations and maintenance.
• ADSL line Installation and Maintenance.
• ADSL modem Configuration, fault diagnosis and resolving them.
• Optical Fibre stripping, cleaving, arching using a splicing machine
and terminating on optical line terminal equipment(OLTE).
• Microwave link maintenance
• Attending to all customer complaints and Access Networks faults
over Copper cables and Optical Fibre, Copper cable jointing and
Fibre splicing.
• Implementing configuration changes as per instruction, in order to
optimize network performance.
• Assisting Planning Department when required to, in the installation,
testing, integration and commissioning of network elements.
