Mine Operations

• Contribute towards project goals and objectives as may be required from time to time.
• Assist the Operational readiness manager and other area managers with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
• Ensure appropriate facilities, procedures and workforce competence to achieve legal compliance, incident prevention and the achievement of tasks in an environmentally sustainable manner.
• Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders in the companies mining activities, consistent with companies Community Relations Policies.
• Become actively involved in the companies aims and objectives of engaging with the local community and strive to leave a positive impact on the longer-term outcomes for local people. Promote the integration between this engagement and the success of the business.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for all tasks performed within the function.
• Develop objectives for sharing common infrastructure and support services across the company and cascade this throughout function.
• Review capital requirements for department items, to meet long term objectives of the Company.
• Review departmental expenditure on a monthly basis and ensure all variances to budget are investigated and explained.
• Identify specific areas for cost improvement and ensure the development and implementation of action plans to achieve these gains.
• Review and monitor all safety, service level and financial performance indicators for the function and initiate corrective action where necessary
• Develop and maintain a team structure that adheres to company policies, enables teamwork and personal development while focusing on the achievement of results.
• Ensure training and coaching is provided to all employees, with specific attention to National and Local employees as part of the Company’s Training and Localisation Plan.
• Ensure all members of the team have clearly defined accountabilities and roles and that individual development plans are in place to enable goals to be achieved.
• Ensure all members of the team receive feedback on their performance and participate in formal performance review processes.
• Develop a succession plan for direct reporting roles.
• Actively contribute to site safety policy and new initiatives and implement change as directed by the Project Manager Construction and management team.
• Actively promote, monitor and enforce compliance of personnel with safe work practices.
• Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
• Develop, implement and maintain safe work procedures and promote high safety and health awareness. Promote and comply with the companies Occupational Health & Safety Policy.

• I manage the Drill and Blast planning section
• Conducting daily and weekly and monthly planning by coordinating and communicating activities, modifying approaches where necessary, taking into account the different strategies proposed
• Coordinate daily drilling works to coordinate and prioritize planning objectives
• Conduct works related to water management, by ensuring sumps are designed and constructed.
• Contribute to the development of engineering policies and practices
• Confirm that pit designs are well executed in the field and improve wall control on different pit stages
• Coordinate production
• Spearheads the drill and blast continuous improvement programme and tactical plans
• Produce drilling and blasting designs that enable the timely, safe and efficient extraction of ore
• Make daily and monthly reports for drill and blast
• Complete end of month reports and quarterly Drill and Blast Presentations
• Blast monitoring and fragmentation analysis
• Cost control by ensuring that the company is within budgeted explosives cost per tonne mined
• Review Drill and Charge returns
• Ensuring Adherence to safe Blasting Practices
• Ensure that the integrity of the pit designed final walls are protected as per design criteria
• Liaise with drilling and blasting operators in order to understand issues being faced on the job and provide technical assistance where appropriate to assist in the resolution of those issues
• Supervising of drilling and blasting Operations to ensure conformity to design
• Complete explosives orders and tracking

• Managing communications between all parties involved in the development of the project.
• Supervising construction sites and running of the three construction projects( 2 Water projects and a RDP Housing Project-350houses)
• Conduct financial analysis and estimates for the different phases of the project
• Design and update construction programme schedule; Monitoring and reporting progress on site to the client
• Prepare Weekly and monthly technical reports
• Design and regularly update the cash flow
• Monitor both manual and Mechanical trenching and closely supervising the laying of pipes (uPVC and HDPE pipes), backfilling and compaction for rehabilitation after project completion.
• Coordinate all the contractors and subcontractors to ensure the building contract runs to schedule
• Making sure staff adheres to Health and Safety Regulations at all times
• Determine labour requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites

Short Term Planner/Project Engineer (Expatriate)

Duties and responsibilities include;
• In charge of the expansion of the Tailings Storage Facility (TSF);
• Conducting all Haul Road maintenance and Haul road construction Projects;
• Overseeing the dewatering project;
• Construction of the Siltation Ponds, for the purpose of filtering water pumped from the pit, before it is discharged into the water harvest;
• Planning with the mining engineer when there is a shortage of man-power on site;
• Planning on where to mine from, for each week depending on the crusher/milling needs of the week to come;
• Working hand in hand with the production crew and coming up with the best plan for the 24hours period so that delays are reduced and production is optimized.
• Acted as a Long term Planner and conducted Medium term plans for the Mine with use of Xpac.

Production Mine Foreman

Duties and responsibilities include;
• Conduct weekly planning with Mine planning Engineers, Geologist and contractors for the smooth running of the project week and ensure possible constraints to achieving targets are discussed and if possible eliminated;
• Conduct daily plans in reference to priority areas to be mined out and prioritised material grade/type needed to feed the crusher with;
• Manage and supervise the Crew in order to ensure that we work in the safest possible manner and as productive as we can be;
• Responsible for safe and efficient production of ore and waste to the approved Mining Plan;
• Ensure that each subordinate is adequately supported with equipment, personnel resources, appropriate engineering controls and information to manage safety, production and quality in the working area;
• Ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards that exceed world industry standards and any applicable legislation and achieve Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate;
• Ensure that Drilling and Blasting operation is carried out in accordance to plan, procedure and that shared responsibilities with the Explosives Company are complied with;
• Ensure that personnel are deployed to the work areas adequately and work safely and efficiently;
• Work in conjunction with Maintenance Superintendent and ensure that Pit Dewatering Strategy, Planning and operation are carried out effectively so that interference of water to Drilling, Tyre Life and other operations are minimized;
• In charge of projects from the mining section, by working hand in hand with contractors.

Production Mine Foreman/Engineer

Duties and responsibilities include;
• Bush clearing and Piling up of Top-Soil;
• Dump management and ensuring that sequential dumping is followed for we trained Dump truck and other machine Operators;
• Conducting Production weekly plans and report writing;
• Supervising and ensuring that mining/Operations are done according to the plan;
• Ramp and Haul Road constructions maintaining the optimum gradient of 10%;
• Planning and coordinating the employment of mining staff and equipment with regard to efficiency, safety and environmental conditions;
• Conducting Geotechnical investigation around the mine;
• Conducting Pit wall inspections and safety risk assessments;
• Preparing (writing) production reports such as shift, equipment statistics, and management, 12 hour production line up and production schedule reports;
• Carrying out safety topics discussions before each shift started, so that safe work practice is adhered to;
• Establish first aid and emergency services facilities at the mine, so that in case of an accident first aid is given to the victims before being rushed to the hospital;
• Planning and coordinating the employment of mining staff and equipment with regard to efficiency, safety and environmental conditions.

Graduate Mining Engineer/Supervisor

Duties and responsibilities include;
Supervised Mine Operations from Survey, Drill and Blast until the Ore/Waste got the Crusher or Waste Dump respectively.

Duties and responsibilities include:
• Conducting investigations of mineral deposits and undertaking evaluation in collaborations with geologist and economist to determine whether the mineral deposit can be mined profitably or not;
• Conducting periodic Geotechnical and Pit wall inspections and safety risk assessments;
• Conducting Site/min/Open pit investigation in order to improve production;
• Preparing plans and constructing of pit and haulage roads for open -cut operations;
• Construction of Ramps and Haul Roads;
• Prepare dill pattern designs, presplit, production and trim short designs using Surpac computer aided design software;
• Mining Survey, Benchmark set up using control points, pattern marking, ramp set up, defining blast limits, setting up of clean up limits, Misfire area pickups, Toe, Crest and Spot height pick up, Water Level Monitoring;
• Consulting with Geologists and other Engineers about the design, selection and provision of machines, facilities and systems for mining, as well as infrastructure such as access roads;
• Conducting production weekly plans with respect to exposing Ore by means of stripping the overburden;
• Plan with Geologists on possible Ore grades blending needed;
• Preparing production reports such as shift, equipment statistics, and management, 24 hour production line up, drilling, blasting and production schedule reports;
• Establish first aid and emergency services facilities at the mine;
• Drilling and blasting supervision and evaluation of open pit mining equipment ( haul trucks, Loaders, Excavators, Drill-rigs, Graders and Bull Dozers);
• Supervising blast hole pegs set outs using survey instruments;
• Supervising Drilling of Production Blast holes operations including sampling the blast holes for geological assaying purpose;
• Tie-ups are done correctly in accordance with the blasting type;
• Carrying out blasting operations, firing the shots and inspecting the blasted material;
• Conducting researching aimed at improving efficiency of Drill and blast Operations and safety at the mine;
• Worked from the Mobile Crusher plants where we crushed aggregates for Construction and Stemming
• Give safety talk and topics to the shift or clew members so that safety work practice is adhered to and update them on any changes that are to or will be implemented.
