• Lead a team of operations engineer and technician that ensures the safe and efficient operations of the plant. Also ensures the plant is within the weekly operating guide that includes export/import power, steam demands and emissions compliance.
• Responsible for advising and assisting Operations Manager and Shift Superintendent in managing, supervising and coordinating operations.
• Supervises all personnel and operators in their operating area to ensure safe and responsible operation at all times.
• Conduct toolbox meetings to discuss safety measures and procedures, as well as to assist workers in identifying potential hazards in the workplace.
• Acts to resolve process and equipment problems through a thorough understanding of Unit and equipment limits and basic knowledge of equipment and processes.
• Mentors, guides and evaluates operators in the performance of their duties on a short and long-term basis.
• Organizes work, position assignments and scheduling to meet the crew's shift targets. Review schedule for unfilled positions and resolve issues.
• Reviews and enforces compliance with all company policies, rules and procedures in relation to the Operations Department.
• Responsible for Incident/Emergency Response - Follow the proper response plans for each of the following areas and submit an incident or hazard report in a timely manner: Environmental response; Safety/Injury response; Unit Operations upsets/incidents; and Personnel (USOR or contractor) incidents. Review/verify reports and include additional details and accuracy as possible.
Worked at the Refinery Solid Fuel Fired Power Plant, where I was in charge of the safe and efficient operation of all steam and power production equipment and facilities, including water treatment and coal handling.
