The business modules provides an understanding of the economic and industrial environment in which engineering companies must operate. Alongside this, students will acquire a business foundation of the contemporary global business environment. This course introduces and explains the complexity of business and develops some key skills such as information searching and presentation. - Management Accounting - Managerial Finance - Marketing Research - Industry and Organisation Structure - Operations Management - Product Development Principles - Engineering Management - Supply Chain Management

On completion of the course, students should be able to: - Interpret engineer's sketches, notes and specifications for preparing working drawings. - Take measurement on site for preparing working drawings. - Calculate specifications for design projects such as air-conditioning ducting, pipe size and stresses in machine elements. - Design simple systems for air-conditioning and ventilation, mechanical applications, electrical installation and controls, fire detection & protection, water supply and process piping. - Prepare working drawings for air-conditioning and ventilation systems, building services piping systems, electrical installation and controls, process piping systems, engineering components, welded fabrications, machine elements and mechanical units and systems; or - Prepare layout and assembly drawings of marine & offshore structures.
