Role definition: To provide Nursing care and treatment to patients in line with Program guidelines and
Procedures.
Key Resource Areas
1. Receive, assess, take patients vital signs (Blood pressure, weight, respiratory rate, heart rate and temperature), forward them to clinicians and counselors according to urgency and needs of the patient in line with the program guidelines and procedures.
2. Receive and review patients’ prescriptions, explain the procedure and possible side effects and administer the drug(s) in line with program guidelines and procedures.
3. Receive patients’ and their files and organize them for investigations in line with program guidelines and procedures.
4. Assess, prepare and conduct health education talks to patients in line with program guidelines and procedures.
5. Prepare, receive and conduct clinical nurse’s only visits to stable patients in line with program guidelines and procedures.
6. Receive patients and conduct initial and ongoing counseling in line with program guidelines and procedures.
7. Receive, prepare and organize patients’ files according to the different types of clinic visits for review by the clinic team in line with program guidelines.
8. Receive, assess, prepare, educate and give family planning services to clients in line with program guidelines and procedures.
9. Receive, educate, assess and refer female clients for cervical cancer screening in line with program guideline and procedures.
10. Prepare and conduct clinical procedures to patients with doctors in line with program guidelines and procedures.
11. Receive and resuscitate very sick patients before admission to the hospital in line with program guidelines and procedures.
12. Prepare, analyze and submit monthly reports to the clinic manager in line with program guidelines and procedures.
13. Receive, assess and first truck the highly infectious patients through the clinic flow in line with program guidelines and procedures.
14. Collect, document and keep nursing records in line with program guide lines and procedures
15. Assess, maintain and organize the clinic stock ( drugs, equipments and sundries) in line with program guidelines and procedures.
16. Provide support supervision to nursing assistants in controlling clinic flow in line with program guidelines and procedures
17. Provide support supervision to expert clients while performing general health education talks
18. Analyze, review and make periodic reports on HIV quality control with the HIV quality control team in line with the Ministry of Health and program guidelines.
