MEDIA &COMMUNICATIONS UNIT
• Create and maintain open channels of communications with media outlets on an international level to actively promote the organization’s mission and reinforcing the mandate
• Manage all media channels and the website, and all content development for the organization while ensuring that all publications are in adherence to deadlines and reporting requirements including the newsletter and annual report
• Devise succinct strategies and a defined tactical action plan for the division to strengthen its impact and outreach
• Manage all organization events and conferences
• Directly manage the media unit manager
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & GENDER UNIT
• Manage the Program Development Officer and spearhead efforts to strategically engage existing and potential donors and generate opportunities for the organization
• Creatively seek funding from a diverse pool of donors to achieve annual targets
• Create partnerships with individuals and the private sector on an international level
• Oversee the implementation of all fundraising strategies and ensure the satisfaction of all donor requirements
• Supervise donor proposals, content for submission, contracts and reports in coordination with Project Officers/Managers and Finance Manager
• Implement all projects according to budgets and timelines, reporting to ARDD management on a quarterly basis
• Provide technical support and strategic advice on funding, gender mainstreaming & strategies and project design to support the humanitarian crisis in Jordan and the region
• Drafted multiple content and materials in regards to women’s empowerment such as tool kit on gender base violence with the ARRD team (UN trust Fund project), women inclusion in the workplace manual ( Ford Foundation), part of the team that drafted national action plan for peace and security (JNCW & UNWomen)
Developed an integrated marketing and communications strategy and tactical plan, public relations strategy and corporate sustainability strategy to achieve specific pre- and post-opening objectives
• Drafted the department’s objectives, budget and key performance indicators
• Executed pre-opening communication strategies in conjunction with the Sales, Spa, and F&B Departments with the ultimate objective of driving profitability and maximizing brand exposure
• Devised and produced all hotel marketing content and collateral according to international brand standards, covering the website, digital/ online channels, hotel booking software, internal communications and printed materials
• Served as the hotel’s primary brand ambassador for all internal and external purposes, and at all official events
• Promoted the hotel through networking on a local, regional and international level to build and engage a database of loyal clients
• Introduced the hotel to the media and initiated strong relationships with the media to publicize the property
• Built partnerships to generate consumer activations at the property level, and oversaw the execution of all events
ARAB RENAISSANCE FOR DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT (ARDD) - LEGAL AID
STRATEGY & MANAGEMENT
• Managed the gender and media units’ projects, budgets and reporting requirements, including financial and monitoring and evaluation and gender mainstreaming
• Managed and monitored regional projects and advocacy campaigns for international donors including Oxfam, the Government of the Netherlands, OCHA, UN Trust Fund, Ford Foundation, and the Swedish Development Agency SIDA
• Supported the organization in acquiring multiple new projects from international donor sources including the UN Women Trust Fund, the Embassy of Switzerland, the USAID, the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and OCHA
• Set-up a dynamic electronic database to manage donor and beneficiary relationships, and SOP for internal communications
• Created and recruited six notable individuals to the organization’s Advisory Board
• Recruited and directed managed the gender and media unit staff and consultants
OUTREACH
• Served as the focal point for communications with all stakeholders including UN agencies (OCHA), Oxfam GB, SIDA, local and international universities, the private sector, embassies and the government
• Secured media coverage on broadcast television, radio stations and international newspapers including Al Jazeera, US Today, and CTV Toronto; and published a biannual bulletin, annual report and newsletter (Gender Pulse) for the organization
• Represented Jordan and presented as keynote speaker at high-profile events including Carnegie institute, the Global Humanitarian Policy Forum organized by OCHA in New York City and the International Rescue Committee Conference in the U.K., the first international biennial conference “Women’s Access to Justice: Prospects and Perspectives”, and the “Mohammed Al Jabri and the Future of the Arab World” with LUISS University in Rome
• Secured international membership with the Global Network for Women Peace Builders and partnerships with prestigious institutions such as Duke University and Princeton University
POLICY & PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT
• Supported the Jordanian National Commission of Women in coalitions to support gender base violence initiatives
• Drafted position papers and supported in drafting strategy for the National Action Plan of Jordan for Women in Peace and Security, and international organization Kvinna Till Kvinna
• Supported in drafting strategy for local and international organizations
• Submitted a case study to the Urban Refugee Center at Oxford University
• Led the Resource Development Team and oversaw the management and development of three sections: Fundraising and International Relations, Program Development & Volunteering
• Researched and identified business opportunities that generated revenue for JRF from existing and new sources
• Identified, researched and mapped new potential programmatic funding opportunities
• Liaised with donors and international organizations for program development, partnership and programmatic expansion
• Ensured timely and effective proactive and continuous reporting to existing and prospective donors
• Engaged and coached team members and volunteers to become active and productive JRF ambassadors
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
• Doubled revenues from the annual fundraising event relative to previous year
• Expanded new donors base by 32% during annual fundraising event, including local and international donors
• Created an outreach & fundraising campaign that reached 6 million individuals through collaborating with a major airline to feature a child safety advertising program
• Successfully organized and implemented multiple fundraising and networking events on a local and international level
• Created new extensive policies & procedures for departmental activities, including the implementation of a CRM for the first time
FUNDRAISING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
• Created and implemented organization-wide strategic and tactical fundraising plans to generate opportunities for the institute and its graduates; most notably the ‘Friends of RSICA’ program which was implemented regionally to generate unrestricted income
• Developed and implemented the Lawrence of Arabic fundraising campaign internationally - $2M in revenues
• Created a ‘work for support program’ for students to generate an income, securing production deals for RSICA’s Black Coral Productions company and developed the ‘Screen Industry Cluster’ with Int@j
• Developed imaginative fundraising projects and direct response campaigns including publishing books and documentaries
• Applied for grants, scholarships and funds internationally
COMMUNICATIONS, MARKETING &PUBLIC RELATIONS
• Devised and implemented an annual strategic communications plan that covers marketing (advertising, public relations, events, direct & relations, online/ social media, CSR) and public relations
• Maintained a strong relationship with the media to scout for publicity opportunities to achieve the highest visibility in print, TV and online media outlets
• Set-up the infrastructure for and developed RSICA’s social media marketing platform, which includes Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa, a Blog, and LinkedIn; notable projects include ‘My Reef’, which was the first collaboration between USAID and JREDS
