Asset Management company that had two operations: Sword Energy (O&G production - 7, 000 BOE’s per day) and Mutual funds. Responsible for IFRS consolidated financial statements, MD&A and regulatory reporting for public-listed company (including subsidiaries), quarterly reporting to Audit and Governance Committees, banking arrangements, employee compensation including LTIP design, director compensation, product margin analysis, risk/business strategy matrix, key performance indicators, corporate tax structuring, audit and legal fee negotiation, IFRS conversion, actual versus budget reporting to Board, and ASC/IIROC/CRA compliance audits. Supervised staff of 20 employees in Calgary and Toronto along various business lines and subsidiary companies.
Prepared audited financial statements including full note disclosure. Established and maintained policies and procedures over corporate accounting, cash flow management, internal controls, budgeting, employee performance evaluation process, payroll, commissions and information technology.
Planned and performed financial control and business operations audits to identify inefficiencies and recommend opportunities for improvement. Performed property manager audits, such as Morguard Investments Ltd, on behalf of MetLife. Audits included review of property management controls and procedures and management and leasing fees charged for services.
Planned and performed external audits and internal control reviews on many medium-sized and large companies. Provided field knowledge for In-Charge training program in St. Charles, Illinois.
