I am currently working in an IB curriculum school with an international, largely Emirati, student body. My main responsibilities are delivering engaging and differentiated lessons which use methods that encourage learner agency, reflection and interaction with their learning environment. My duties also include liaising with upper management, middle management and grade teachers to ensure consistent, high quality teaching and classroom practice. Other aspects of my role involve collating and analyzing student data to track, develop and evidence successes.
Main responsibilities
• Teaching a range of subjects to a mixed ability, mainly Emirati student body.
• Development of the curriculum and resources in line with the IB principles and practices.
• Collaboration, coordination and innovation of classroom practice.
• Assessing and improving students’ performance and understanding through differentiated learning plans.
• Keeping detailed records of achievement, both formative and summative, to a KHDA and IB standard.
I am currently teaching KS1 students using a mixed Thai/UK curriculum. I teach English, EFL, Phonics, Computers and Art over three KS1 levels and am the homeroom teacher for year four.
Alongside my duties as a teacher I also helped launch the new programme, recruit, evaluate and supervise new members of staff and organise international trips to Europe for large groups of students.
Working as a English Science teacher in a large private school with classes of around twenty five KS1 students.
The job involved making targeted lesson plans to highly mixed ability classes and Improving students’ use and understanding of scientific vocabulary and concepts.
Working with an array of students in both KS1 and KS2 supporting the attainment of developmental targets in the curriculum. This involved working closely with ESL and SEN students both individually and in groups
assessing and observing students strengths and weaknesses and liaising with the classroom teacher.
Other dutiesinvolved exam preparation for SAT students, running guided reading groups, lunchtime supervition and supervising the children on trips off site.
While working at gordenbrock my duties were supervising and engaging children in outdoor activities as well as in the dining room. Organizing games and events for the children to participate in. While at Gordonbrock I also gained experience of working one on one with SEN pupils.
This qualification is linked in its aims and objectives to the UK PGCE, the recognised teaching qualification for teachers in England and Wales. It is a qualification that enables students to make links between the professional work of teachers in the classroom and evidence and research into education in an international context.
I completed my degree in 2012 over the course of my studies I took modules in linguistics and creative writing amongst many more.
In 2006 I completed my English access course fulfilling my requirements for a placement on the bachelor’s degree course. The curriculum was varied and included Greek Theatre, Shakespeare and Modern poetry.
