Responsible for interpreting a patient’s medical charts and assigning the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes.
Demonstrates knowledge of sequencing diagnoses and procedure codes outlined in the ICD-10-AM Official Coding Guidelines
Checking a variety of sources within the patient’s medical record, including the transcription of the physician’s notes, ordered laboratory tests, requested imaging studies and other medical procedures/care performed.
Contributes in data collection used to research and studies used to improve over-all plan and action in the primary care setting.

Demonstrates expert job knowledge and applies current coding and billing regulations, policies, processes and procedures with effective decision-making and problem solving skill.
Ensuring that assigned codes meet all legal and insurance regulations so service payment are obtained in a timely fashion.

Makes sure that assigned codes meet all federal, legal and insurance regulations so service payment are obtained in a timely fashion.
Ensure documentation and interaction with healthcare providers for complete coding and meet required regulations.
Demonstrate advance knowledge of medical terminology, abbreviations, techniques and surgical procedures; anatomy and physiology; major disease processes; pharmacology; and the metric system to identify specific clinical findings, to support existing diagnoses, or substantiate listing additional diagnoses in the medical record.

Remote retrieval and abstraction of charts.
Reply to audit findings and make coding additions or corrections.
Execute coding guidelines and process procedures with data management.
Knowledge in multiple clinical specialties and all hospital coding disciplines.
Perform other duties assigned by the Manager.
