Electronics Technician. Computer Support
I was mobilized to Bahrain during this time, working in a computer/LAN support center. I trouble shot LAN layouts and installed or repaired desktop and laptop
computer-related hardware and software packages.
Related duties included:
Data backup and data retrieval from shaky hard drives, providing training in computer and electronics related skills,
soldering, data entry, text composition, etc to more junior service members.
I received training during this time in recent computer technology; such as laptop maintenance, Windows 2K,
preparing fiber optic connections, and got A+ certification.
In previous periods, I installed and troubleshot new systems; I tested and configured communications circuits with
subsystems including terminals, modems, crypto units, & patch panels. Repaired equipment to the component level in
a test equipment calibration lab.
Performed various administrative tasks such as Performance evaluation, task assignments and
tracking, circuit and facilities record book updates.
I've worked on LAN / WAN systems & associated telecommunications gear. I was trained as a component-level competent electronics tech, a electro-mechanical device a computer maintenance and as a communications tech working on a
proprietary military system WideAreaNet plus all the systems that tied into the WAN in the comms station.
I maintained PC's and peripherals including printers & mechanical teletype gear, GPS receiver gear, test equipment,
encryption devices, security systems including alarms, sensors, cameras & locks. 4- channel reel-to-reel tape
recorders, 1/2 inch tape format VCRs. In addition I performed equipment cabling and conduit installations,
Performed component level repair on analog and digital equipment. I supervised & coordinated teams of technicians repairing and calibrating test equipment & telecomm gear.
