Transcribes, proofreads and edits medical information dictated by multicultural healthcare practitioners in a JCIA(Joint Commission on International Accreditation)-accredited hospital
Trains healthcare practitioners on the use of the hospital’s Dictaphone system
Participates in the implementation of electronic patient record using the Meditech system
Participates in the policy and procedure review and implementation of the department as per the JCIA guidelines.
Serves as a resource person for medical terminology

Creates medical education presentations (power point, transparency, slides, etc.) of doctors for case presentation, journal club review, weekly talks, symposiums, seminars and conferences.
Responsible for organizing, typing, distribution and maintenance of all correspondences, reports, minutes and records relating to the department.
Establishes, implements and maintains an efficient filing system within the department.
Actively participates in hospitalwide quality management.
Liaise with other departments as needed.
Proofreads and edits transcribed reports by Junior Medical Transcriptionists.
Heads a specialty transcription team of five members.
Develops training scheme for junior transcriptionists.
Conducts transcription training for team members and other transcriptionists.
Attends monthly supervisors’ meeting.
Transcribes medical information as dictated by clients.
Proofreads transcribed reports as necessary.
Transcribes medical information as dictated by clients under the supervision of a Senior Transcriptionist, Supervisor or Manager.
