Program Coordinator at International Rescue Committee
  • United States - Texas
  • My current job since May 2021

I am overseeing the launch of new EAHR program site at the IRC office in Dallas that provides medical and psychological (‘forensic’) evaluation services for asylum seekers, unaccompanied children, and applicants to other forms of humanitarian-based immigration protection. These evaluations document the physical and psychological evidence of human rights abuses and more than double the likelihood of an individual winning their case for humanitarian protection in the United States. In my role, I am responsible for the recruitment and training of new volunteer health professionals, managing incoming referrals and program data, building community partnerships, and collaborating with experts in the field to co-develop program best practices for further supporting the needs of unaccompanied children, survivors of gender-based violence, and detained asylum-seekers.

Program Coordinator at Refugees Northwest
  • United States - SeaTac
  • October 2019 to April 2021

As program coordinator for the Evaluation Network, I was responsible for the program's daily operations, providing administrative and logistical support to develop outreach, trainings, and events for a network of 100+ active volunteers, 150+ legal partners, and 7 partner organizations. During this time, I coordinated more than 250 pro-bono medical and mental health ('forensic') evaluation appointments for asylum-seekers, torture survivors, and human trafficking survivors, including applicants in immigration detention, youth shelters, and foster care. I additionally supported writing quarterly and annual grant reports, in addition to the collection, maintenance, and analysis of program data reported to stakeholders and funders.

MENAR Fellow at L'École Canadienne de Tunis
  • Tunisia - Tunis
  • September 2018 to July 2019

I was awarded the Middle East & North Africa Regional (MENAR) Fellowship in 2018, and my fellowship placement was providing administrative & teaching support to faculty at an International Baccalaureate school in Tunis. In this capacity, I spearheaded the development and instruction of an English college preparation course for high school students, in addition to launching and managing a new afterschool remedial English program for more than 45 primary school students through immersive clubs and activities.

Communications & Casework Intern at Middle Eastern Refugee and Immigrant Alliance
  • United States - North Chicago
  • June 2017 to June 2018

In addition to supporting the Executive Director with grant writing, conducting research, and creating the organization's quarterly and annual reports, I assisted more than 120 Arabic-speaking refugee clients with applications for green cards, citizenship, employment, health insurance, and safety net services in 1:1 appointments. I also restructured the legal clinic appointment scheduling and data entry processes, in order to maximize efficiency and ensure that we were able to serve every client on our waitlist.

Public Affairs Intern at U.S. Embassy in Muscat
  • Oman - Muscat
  • February 2017 to May 2017

My responsibilities as an intern the Embassy's Public Affairs office included drafting language for opinion editorials, public statements, and speeches for the Ambassador to publish in local newspapers and deliver at Embassy events. I also monitored Omani news outlets and wrote concise, daily reports of Arabic and English newspapers for Embassy leadership. In this capacity, I additionally organized logistics and budgeted expenses for Embassy participation at higher education fairs, holiday celebrations, and other public diplomacy events.
