• Chemical characterization of cement and concrete products by gravimetric
and analytical equipments like, XRF, XRD, SEM-EDXA and AAS.
• Projects intending to use admixtures (pozzolana, fly ash, slag etc.) in
concrete and industrial waste streams (Red mud, red sand, cement kiln
dust, mine tailings).
• Supervision of research projects on the utilization of industrial by-product
waste streams in construction materials.
• Teaching, developing and implementing student’s assessments. Arranging
lectures and visits of the manufacturers of building materials.
•Durability assessment of concrete and concrete products, which include permeability, chloride diffusion, sulfate resistance, carbonation and alkali-aggregate reaction.
•Chemical characterization of clinker, cement and aggregate. cement types and substitution materials, concrete mix design, sulfate, chloride and carbonation determination.
• To work-out specifications for analytical equipment like XRF, XRD, SEM,
TEM, DTA-TG, CSH-analyzer etc., Material Characterization, Mechanical
Testing of Concrete and Non-Destructive Testing.
• To carryout research and provide solutions for problems on the performance
and durability of concrete, concrete products.
• Trouble shooting for the under performance of blended cements, effects of
blended cements on durability and process control in cement manufacture.
To work out reasons and provide suggestions for,
• Strength development of slag-cement
• Lump formation in cement storage silos.
• Quality control of raw mix, clinker, cement and cementitious substitution
materials etc.
• Management of analytical and gravimetric testing laboratories, which include
XRF, AAS, DTA-TG and SEM-EDXA.
• Consulting with and providing guidance to research engineers on various
research projects on construction materials.
• Management of analytical and gravimetric testing laboratories, which include
XRF, AAS, DTA-TG and SEM-EDXA, Universal Testing Machine and
mechanical testing equipments.
• To assist in equipping and managing cement research laboratories in its
new premises, built with the help of World Bank.
