 Construction of Princess Nora Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), Riyadh ($11 billion) Role: Electrical Engineer (Jan 2011-Present)

PNU is one of the ten largest universities in the world and the largest university for women in the world. It is 8 million square meters in size with a maximum capacity of 60, 000 students and 12, 000 employees.

Tasks & Duties:

- Engineer in charge of reviewing and supervising the installation, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance of Electrical Substation Automation System (SCADA system) consisted of ABB Industrial 800x system, ABB AC 800M PLC, 112 RTUs, fiber optical network, two workstations, historian server, and connectivity servers:
o IEC-61850 communication with ABB protection relays REF-615.
o MODBUS communication with Schneider protection relays SEPAM T-40 and power meters.

- Supervise, manage and report progress on a daily basis of all works related to electrical and control systems of industrial and residential facilities as per specifications and international standards:
o Medium/Low Voltage Network; PNU is Supplied by 3 HV GIS substations (380/132/13.8 KV) and distributed by 32 Metal-Clad switchgear distributers, 166 Metal-Enclosed switchgears (RMUs), 80 Package Substation Units, +300 Dry/Oil type transformers, DC chargers, MV/LV cables.
o Generator plant; containing 8 generator sets 13.8KV (5 MVA each) controlled by Central Control Panel supplying essential & life safety loads all over the campus.
o chiller plant; the district cooling system is comprised of (26 MV chillers, MV starter panels, MV VSDs, LV MCCs & panels) for chilled water distribution.
o Sewage Treatment Plant (STP); is consisted of SCADA, central control panel (Siemens PLC S7-300 system), LV MCCs (Soft starters, VFDs), instruments.
o RO Plant; two deep wells and RO plant are fully automated SCADA system based on Allen Bradley SLC-500 system.
o Solar & Boiler plant; The district heating system is a collaboration of 10 fuel boilers and solar system with large collectors covering around 36, 000m².
o Automated People Mover (APM); The campus has an 11.5 km overhead APM serving the whole campus with (14 Stations, 22 Vehicles, 4 lines, depot area).
o Utility tunnel; a 4.5 km service tunnel connects all buildings with all infrastructure utilities.
o Landscape, fence & street lighting networks.
o Data center, LPG plant, Pump/Fire fighting/Fuel/Sewage lifting stations, Warehouse, Dormitory.

- Testing, commissioning, energizing and perform operation & maintenance works for all electrical equipments onsite:
o SCADA & Control Systems
o MV substations, switchgears and Dry/Oil type transformers
o MV Motor starters
o MV Variable Speed Drives (VSD)
o MV/LV cables
o Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) & DC systems
o LV Main/Sub Distribution Boards (MDB/SMDB)
o LV Final Distribution Panels (Small power/lighting panels)
o Emergency Central Battery System.
o Motor Control Centers (MCCs); Soft starter, VFD, Star-Delta, DOL
o Motors and pumps
o Earthing/lightning systems

- Review and revise all Electrical submittals, drawings, as-built, manuals, coordination studies and calculations.
