I joined Indorama Ventures Limited in October 2009 as head of technical services and was promoted to the level of JVP in January 2012 in their acquired asset originally called Tuntex PTA plant. Incidentally this is the first PTA plant of Thailand. I was thereafter given to manage the Production and Process safety functions as well in the organization.
Under my direct leadership both in technical and non technical aspects, there has been several major improvements that have taken place.
The cost of production has been brought down by close to 20% by successful implementation of key CAPEX projects involving the oxidation reactors, Distillation columns, centrifugal compressors load sharing controls, Advanced Process Control, energy integration. Several projects are currently under approvals from the Board of directors.
My single handed contribution has turned this plant into the most profitable asset of the company. This plant of 1995 vintage now stands strong and competitive to the emerging new PTA technologies. In fact it is currently outperforming the latest deployed PTA technology of 2005 vintage.
My work and skills mainly involved high level of applied Chemical Engineering, Design reviews and carrying out actual design simulation and modeling by use of GPROMS, bringing in Engineering innovations in critical equipment of the PTA industry, never done before through careful engineering evaluation.
My work also involved development and establishing PSM metrics at site and across the PTA plants in the group which was not in focus earlier.
My work involved providing PTA related Knowledge and training which was lacking in order to meet the challenges of the economic climate that the business is faced with. My focus on people's development has been one of the key success stories in this company in turning around this plant.
I am well connected with major vendors of the world involved with Process equipment and with PTA technology licensors which have also played a key role in bringing Tuntex PTA plant to where it is now.

My career with Reliance Industries Limited started as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in 1992.
1993 : Took independent charge as shift engineer in PTA plant
1996 : Became head of shift
1996 : Commissioned greenfield PTA plant in Hazira. My main area of commissioning was Oxidation reactor and Dehydration column start ups. I steered a group of 40 engineers and operators and also was responsible for setting up Production fuctional systems
1998 : Was process lead in commissioning brown field expansions in PTA plant in Patalganga
2003 : Was lead technologist and process in charge in revamping of PTA plant in Patalganga. Several innovations were brought in CTA drying technology and engineering, still unique to PTA technologies world over. Was promoted to Senior Manager.
2005 : Steered PTA plant to safe and quick start up post floods affecting the entire site. Was promoted to General Manager of PTA plant. Underwent 45 day Management development program at IIM Bangalore.
2005 : Became SITE HEAD de facto Site President in silent hours of the complex. Brought in several improvements to make the site steam and power network stronger and more effective.
2007 : Became head of Technical Services Division in Patalganga. The job involved design reviews, design, failure analysis, modeling, simulation of process related to PTA/PX/LAB and utility plants and promoted to Senior General Manager. I was also appointed the PSM (Process Safety Management) Chairman for the site. Established all PSM related systems at site post receiving 1 month training from M/s Du Pont.
In addition to the above I am also a trained Six Sigma Black belt and my projects reaping rich benefits for the organization.
During my tenure I have acquired skills on HTRI, PROII, MINITAB software which along with my strong grasp in fundamentals of Chemical engineering had enabled me to be a very efficient troubleshooter.
A few highlighting areas where such skills have been productive are the in Centrifugal compressors of 10 MW size, Compressor train load optimization, Oxidation reactor technology unlearning through statistical analysis.
