• Carry out the complex fault finding, minor repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of LV / HV electrical equipment and associated switch gear . Identify requirements for major repair, replacement and or workshop reconditioning work to be carried out. Update preventive maintenance records for work done, including electrical drawings.
• Carry out electrical equipment fault finding and repair work. Diagnoses, check and repair faults on various items of equipment in the power generation and distribution system, including AC generators, and auto voltage regulators, synchronizing equipment and protection relays. Use Multimeters, Insulation resistance meters, and cable fault location techniques on motors, electronic control systems and circuit breakers. Repair faults by repairing or replacing parts on relays, breakers, contractors, isolators and other switch gear components.
• Carry out the routine maintenance of various power generation and distribution equipment and related switch gear, and other equipment such as motors, pumps, transformers, cranes and hoists. Include inspecting and testing equipment according to check-lists, calibrating relays as required. Clean and replace defective or worn parts, dismantle and repair starters, drive systems, generators, alternators and switches. Complete maintenance tasks and restart and test equipment in running condition.
• Carry out on workshop overhauls of electrical equipment. Include stripping down units, changing parts, replacing electronic cards and bench testing equipment before re-installation. Maintain various electrical tools, test equipment and domestic appliances such as kitchen ranges, dishwashers, hot water boilers, washing machines, On board entertainment systems, ensuring that all function correctly.
• Carry out various complex maintenance and repair tasks on industrial and non-industrial lighting systems; fault finding on both fluorescent and discharge types and repairing control systems'. Repair and test explosion proof equipment
I have started working for this company on their off-shore Drilling Rigs, they use Silicon Control Rectifier Systems
Job Responsibilities:
• Perform Preventive Maintenance and keep concise maintenance records.
• Operate the Electrical system and SCR (Silicon Control Rectifier system), including Generation of electrical power so as to obtain maximum output generation within time and cost limits.
• Repair, maintain, test, troubleshoot, connect and install new or existing power supplies, switch gear, heaters, regulators, transformers, generators, electrical motors, alternators, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems as well as other related devices.
• 600 Volt AC and less Power and Control, 750 Volt DC and less power and control, AC magnetic starter, AC and DC generators, Silicon Control Rectifier( SCR) equipment.
• Interpret and read electrical, mechanical and architectural diagrams to determine proper wiring Layouts to repair existing components or to install new ones.
• Monitors and assesses existing scheduled preventative maintenance in order to achieve constant improvement.
• Train junior members of staff to service and repair electrical equipment to assist with their development.
• Responsible for the return of all equipment used, to its proper storage location in a condition where it is ready to be used again.

Job Responsibilities:
• To ensure that all maintenance work carried out under instruction from the Rig Electrician.
• Operate the electrical system and SCR (silicon control rectifier system), including generation of electrical power so as to obtain maximum output generation within time and cost limits.
• Use preventative maintenance programme directed by the Rig Electrician.
• Carry out and record isolations of electrical powered equipment to be worked on by himself and others in accordance with the requirements of the Permit to Work System.
• Report any misuse of equipment to the Senior Rig Electrician.
• Safeguard the rig tools and instruments in their care.
• Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
• Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Senior Rig Electrician.
• Maintain a log of all equipment worked on whilst employed as an Assistant Electrician.

•Experiences to work in harsh conditions (dusty, hot, sun,
humidity, oil, confined space, electric field danger)
• Ability to work on any electrical project according to drawing.
•Ability to worked to tag and log rules, work with latest
electrical instruments.
•Ability to use All kind of testing Equipment such as
Wheatstone Bridge, Osiloscope, meter, meger etc.
•Trouble shooting & Repairing of Caterpillar D398, D399 and 3516 of Kato generators. Echo phone system and Notifier fire
alarm system.
