• Leading a dynamic team of doctors and paramedics in a fast-paced military aviation and clinical environment, as part of medical support to flight operations, clinical and military medicine.
• Carrying out casualty air evacuations from a field unit to higher medical echelons by fixed and rotary wing aircraft.
• Preparing and practising disaster management plans for implementation in mass/multiple casualty situations
• Conceptualised and oversaw the setting up of a lifestyle disease screening clinic
• Under my command, our medical centre has been designated as the only ‘Centre of Excellence in Primary Healthcare’ in the entire Training Command of the IAF.
• Carried out casualty air evacuations from a counterinsurgency operations area to higher medical echelons.
• Carried out an aircraft mishap investigation of a non-fatal aircraft accident as medical member of the board of inquiry.
• Designed and developed a negative pressure patient isolation system for transport of infectious patients by road. The design of the same was accepted by the National Innovation Foundation for further development.
• Conducted annual and special medical examinations for civil aircrew in accordance with ICAO regulations.
• Guided postgraduate medical students through their Masters Degrees in Aerospace Medicine, including thesis work.
• Carried out mishap investigation of a fatal aircraft accident, applying the principles of human factors to arrive at the possible cause of the mishap.
• Carried our aviation and healthcare industry driven aeromedical research.
• Closely involved with initial astronaut selection process for the indigenous Human Spaceflight Programme.
• Member of Indian Space Research Organisation’s human rating certification board for the indigenous Human Spaceflight Programme.
• Member of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) subcommittee for design of active noise cancellation ear defenders for the Human Spaceflight Programme.
• Carried out casualty air evacuations from a field unit to higher medical echelons.
• Designed and developed a jacket for use during search and rescue (SAR) operations. This jacket served as the template for the current SAR jacket in use in the IAF.
• Prepared and practised disaster management plans for implementation in mass casualty situations
