RESPONSIBILITIES: To investigate processes for the beneficiation of minerals from mines and deposits from around the world. Design processes to develop and improve the technologies that are used at present for the extraction of metals from mined ores and to improve on such technologies so as to ensure that the processes meet the international environmental requirements of industrial processes. This work particularly focused on the extraction of nickel and cobalt and the impact various chemical for pH control on the beneficiation of these minerals. Research into the solid liquid separation of fines from the cobalt, nickel extraction process was also investigated. This investigation was environmentally motivated based on the environmental impact of the chemical regime used at present. To develop project proposals, expense charts, inventory charts and manage the finances of the projects to ensure the profitability of the project and financial income of the division. Published and presented a paper for the Hatch engineering conference.
