• Assesses patient’s conditions, records vital signs and observes patient for deviations from normal conditions/behaviors
• Closely coordinates with charge nurse and provides timely status updates
• Alerts charge nurse and doctor for any abnormal conditions
• Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care
• Documents the nursing care of each patient from admission to discharge in accordance to facility medical record and documentation policy
• Assists and provides documented patient and family health education, based upon the individual nursing care plan of the patient
• Ensures patient environment is safe for patients and staff by utilizing infection control practices, adhering to International patient safety goals and following facility health and safety policies
• Collaborates with the Multi-disciplinary team and acts as patient advocate to ensure quality care is delivered
• Adheres to the safe administration of medication policy within the facility, administering prescribed medications, including narcotics as per scope of practice
• Participates in nursing continuous quality improvement initiatives, in service education programs, unit meetings and committee
• Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the nursing plan of care based on individual patient needs
• Initiates prompt nursing intervention based on changes in the patient's condition
• Maintains and demonstrates clinical competence in all aspects of patient care
• Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, in-service education programs, unit meetings and committee functions as assigned
• Conducting daily rounds with the attending physicians
• Performing appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner
• Providing pre-operative and post-operative care to patients
• Acts as a preceptor for new nursing staff
• Managing pain and documenting patient's response to nursing and other interventions
• Documenting the nursing care of each patient from admission to discharge in accordance to facility medical record and documentation policy
• Maintaining patient's optimal health
• Monitoring safety and effectiveness of the Environment and Equipment
• Maintaining compliance of JCI (Infection Control) regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Ensuring safe & effective care environment by - establishing priorities of care - handling hazardous & infectious materials safely

- instructing the client about prescribed diagnostic tests & procedures
- teaching the client about nutrition during pregnancy
- preparing & administering oral, intramuscular, intradermal & subcutaneous injections safely
- assisting the gynecologist in procedures such as: ultrasonography, loop insertion and removal, suture removal, pap smear test, and vaginal swab
