• Assess the health of individuals and devising appropriate nursing health plans to meet any health care needs that have been identified.
• Assist or provide medical treatment for patients ranging from administering medications/vaccines, fluids, or blood, and other life-support systems, observing patient's vital statistics (heart rate, temperature, blood pressure) with proper documentation on client's record.
• Provides direct holistic care and promotes comfort of client, ensuring strict adherence to the highest standards of nursing care.
• Co-ordinate/ consult with physicians, clinicians, registered nurses, ensuring Doctor's instructions and orders are checked and promptly carried out.
• Provides direct guidance and supervision of nursing and non-nursing personnel for the efficient running of the wards and in carrying out nursing routines, bearing in mind the individual needs of patients.
• Guides and conducts health education activities to client and family, emphasizing importance of exercise and appropriate dietary regimen in addition to maintaining a safe and healthy environment as disease/ infection control.
• Perform administrative and managerial functions, such as taking responsibility for a unit's staff, budget, planning, and long-range goals.
• Knowledge of insurance and billing procedures and workflow.
Private Duty Nurse July 2006 - August 2008
Private duty nurses often work independently or through nurse agencies, caring specifically for one or two patients. Patient care may occur at the hospital, in a long-term facility or at home and is determined by the specific medical needs of the patient. Patients with private duty nurses often require long-term care and have chronic or terminal illnesses.
• Provides medical treatment and administering medication, setting IVs, giving shots, dressing change and assist the patient with daily needs, such as hygiene, nutrition and elimination.
• Keeps track of client's progress to treatment, documents all information and care provided, coordinates with doctors and other medical staff members in providing the best care possible to the patient.
• Involves the family in the care plan by keeping them informed and updated of the current status of the patient at the same time encouraging them in assisting and participating in the delivery of care and maintenance of healthful environment.
