Providing HSE Management at the Opus Project in Downtown Dubai.

A building designed by Dame Zaha Hadid, with an unusual void at it's centre presents many unique HSE challenges. Myself and a team of dedicated Safety Officers have ensured Multiplex's high safety standards have been maintained during the final construction phase before handover.
My key Responsibilities include:
• Site HSE programme development and supervision of construction operations
• Management of in house and 3rd party contractors, site inspection and audit programmes:
• Management and control of multiple subcontractor teams to ensure HSE standards are implemented and maintained
• Providing technical consulting for construction site safety related issues
• Reviewing all contractor work method statements to ensure they meet both multiplex and relevant UAE legal standards
• Assessing and planning with project teams all high risk activities. This includes tasks such as lift plans and operations, working at heights on slab edges, façade installation etc.
• Conducting comprehensive on-site safety assessments/inspections and ensuring effective corrective actions have been completed
• Leading site and contractor safety meetings and overseeing contractor toolbox talk reviews
• Coordinating hazard, near misses and incidents reporting and investigations and ensuring suitable corrective actions have been completed
• Managing a team of Safety Officers, Nurses and First Aiders
Working for a large multi site client as their HSE Consultant & Manager
My key responsibilities include:
• Organising and advising a team of HSE officers
• Developing and implementing an improved OHSAS 18001 management system
• Developing and implementing an Abu Dhabi Environmental, Health & Safety Management System and achieving certification
• Developing a company wide HSE training programme to ensure staff meet their allocated HSE responsibilities
• Developing a comprehensive Company legal register incorporating both local regulations and international best practice standards
• Developing comprehensive strategies to improve the organisations health & safety culture
• Developing improved risk management procedures to international standards
• Conducting general and fire risk assessments across all operations, Identifying risk reduction controls
• Developing objectives and KPI’s to ensure continued quarterly HSE performance

• Conducting audits and producing Gap Analysis reports
• Developing HSE course materials, presentations, mock examinations and delivery plans
• Assisting clients with accident investigations and making recommendations to prevent recurrence
• Delivering HSE training courses (IOSH, NEBOSH, IEMA) for multiple training providers
• Conducting safety risk assessment and environmental impact assessments

Continuously maintaining and improving systems, procedures and programs for the
management of HSE across the region, ensuring legal compliance and reducing the companies
exposure to civil liabilities
• Driving a culture of behavioral safety across sites through coaching and developing teams to
think safety first and model effective safety behaviors

• Developing and implementing strategies, policies and procedures for the
implementation of the new regulations to ensure legal compliance
