Currently, I am working as an Audit Senior in the Financial sector section of the firm. At EY, I have been responsible for applying ISA(s) and IFRS in the light of EY Global Audit Methodology auditing techniques from designing preliminary risk assessment procedures, scoping, devising audit strategy, setting extent of and executing controls testing approach, and execution of substantive testing through to finalizing the audit engagement and carrying out other auditing related services.
Outlined below are the key responsibilities associated with this role:
• Performed risk assessment procedures for client acceptance / continuance, prepared time budgets and planned staff resources for efficient job management to reach efficient margin on engagement;
• Collaborated with the audit team and client personnel to devise effective audit strategies, including setting impactful milestones, ensuring their achievement, and ultimately delivering final results within the agreed deadlines that meet the client's expectations;
• Overseeing the execution of audit engagements in the field, including actively managing day-to-day client relationships, and conducting thorough reviews of auditing documentation prepared by team members before handing it off to Seniors Managers, Directors and Partners;
• Efficiently planning and supervising Branch Audits and Cash Counts across Pakistan, involving team travel across multiple cities and coordination with other offices for staff deployment;
• Identification and communication of weaknesses in internal control, with appropriate recommendations, to those charged with governance and conducting follow-ups of significant recommendations to ascertain whether improvement actions have been implemented;
• Ensuring client's compliance with the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as applicable in Pakistan as well with the statutory regulators reporting requirements (such as the Companies Act, Prudential regulations and notices issued by the regulators from time to time);
• Liaising with other EY service lines (Tax, Legal, Strategy & Transactions (SAT), Financial Audit IT (FAIT) etc.) as well as consulting on significant matters with external experts and seeking opportunities to work together for the benefit of EY clients;
• Supervised audit engagements with multi-cultural staff including liaison with foreign office of firms for Group Audits including EY London office, KPMG Bahrain, EY Malaysia office and EY GDS;
• Ensured the Audit team received support when needed, while fostering an inclusive environment for culturally diverse teams to facilitate effective learning and outcomes.
My involvement in successfully completed statutory audits, interoffice group reporting engagements, and non-audit assignments at EY has enabled me to develop detailed knowledge of the clients' key business processes, accounting and internal controls systems and regulatory environment.
