Responsibilities included:
¬ Enhancing the production process to improve output and raw material efficiencies during continuous production in the Glass Reinforced Epoxy pipe section.
¬ Optimizing the process-ability of existing material to increase output and reduce wastage of raw material.
¬ Researching and qualifying new raw material to expand product range, improve production cost, speed and quality, in accordance to ISO and BS standards.
¬ Managing and updating the chemical resistance list related to Epoxy, Vinyl ester, and polyester based pipes.
I am working under Dr Rabih Sultan in the Chemistry department in AUB. I am currently conducting the necessary chemical experiments required to expand Dr Sultan's research projects.
My responsibilities included:
Ø Writing the procedure for two projects assigned by Dr Mahmoud El-Hindi
Ø The two projects are:
o Detecting pharmaceuticals in waste water
o Testing the adsorption of five different pharmaceuticals on activated
carbon
Ø Doing the experimental work for both projects, which includes the use of an
LC/MS-MS machine for the detection of the pharmaceuticals that we are working on
Responsibilities included:
➢ Writing the course for the Pro-green joint program between five different universities, under the supervision of Dr. Tarek Gaddar
➢ Outlining two full credit courses
➢ Assigning the required tasks for the course
➢ Designing lecture and presentations
Responsibilities included:
➢ Design of a continuous ammonia plant producing 400 000 tons/year of ammonia with NG (Natural gas) as a starting material
➢ Identify R&D related to ammonia plant and research on causes of the recent explosion of the fertilizer plant in Texas with anhydrous Ammonia tanks
➢ Heat & Material balances per unit as well as the overall process
➢ Convey increasingly specific technical information about the process via the flow sheets and diagrams (P&ID, BFD, PFD)
➢ Equipment layout on 3-D plant diagram Design of Primary reformer, heat exchanger equipment. (HYSYS)
➢ Preliminary estimation of capital investment and manufacture costs
➢ Overall safety and environmental analysis including hazard and operability study (HAZOP) Hazard and Identification (HAZID), Control of Major accident hazard (COMAH), Quantitative Risks Analysis (QRA) and cost/benefit analysis.
Projects handled:
➢ Methylene Blue adsorption project this work has been published under the title: "Surface-functionalized silica aerogels and alcogels for methylene blue adsorption"
➢ Acid Fuschin adsorption project
➢ Caffeine imprinted aerogels project
