Key performance area:
- Carry out data collection and ensures that the various data are properly organised, stored, backed-up, archived in a database and disseminated as needed;
- Ensure the development and management of a functional field WildLab and preliminary analysis of samples during disease outbreak and for health monitoring; Assist the Programme Executant in the organization of sensitisation meetings of all stakeholders involves in Gorilla habituation and health activities;
- Assist in training all staff associated with the gorilla habituation and health programme; Assist to solicit conservation-focused research with external partners (academic, research institutes, Conservation organisations, etc.); Ensure appropriate primate research procedures are in place (including proposal assessment, permits, methodology, report submission and appropriate acknowledgement etc.); Maintain an up-to-date record of all publications and reports emanating from research work carried out at Campo Ma’an National Park;
- Main duties:
- Developed a strategic overview and assure the implementation of nature conservation programmes at Kwantu Game Reserve, Elephant Sanctuary Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
- Managed the veterinary clinic and veterinary diagnostic laboratory
- Carried out day-to-day operational management of livestock farm and ecosystem health of reserve
- Managed staff in Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Elephant Sanctuary, Predator Camps
- Supervised eco-health research of students, interns and volunteers at Kwantu
- Taught environmental education to students, interns and volunteers
- Planned, made operational budgets and managed all animal health and conservation budget
- Supervised the nutrition and supplements of predators at Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre
- Managed field staff in farm and reserve
- Coordinated game counts and analysed data
- Executed game capture operations
- Key performance area:
- Assisted part-time at the Information Technology Laboratories Student Help Central Network Service
- Facilitated at Problem Base Learning programme part-time at the Centre for Health Science Education - Graduate Entry Medical (GEMP & MBBCh) Programme of the Witwatersrand Medical School.
Tutored Life Science to student enrolled for Wits University Resident Student Development Programme
- Chaired in the Executive Committee of the Post-graduate Student Association as the representative Faculty of Health Science.
- Chaired in the Executive Committee School of Physiology as the representative of post graduate students of the School of Physiology
- Liaised with country teams of IUCN to review technical reports
